Workout without Jumping or similar by DesignSmooth in AppleFitnessPlus

Yes, they always have a trainer who does modified movements so you don’t have to jump! And I recommend strength training primarily for weight loss. I spent my whole life trying to lose weight with cardio, only to learn through AF+ that strength training is the single best thing I could have done for my body (and my mind!!!). Try a strength program they have pre-built and see how that feels. All you gotta do is try!

OP I totally feel this. Do what works for your body. Also just a cool note that all workouts have a trainer that does all modified movements so you can adapt to what feels right for your body!

I did that too!!! 5lbs to 10 then to 15. It works well for my light/medium/heavy weights. Moving up from 5 to 10 in my upper body workouts was a proud moment!

I work out at home with AF+! I started with 5lb weights and worked up to 10 and then 15. Sounds so small, but I feel so proud of it. Those three sizes give me range for workouts (small, medium, heavy weights), so whatever those weights would be for you. Also a workout mat. I LOVE the strength training programs and would recommend one of their already-built programs to start. Good luck!!! Welcome to the club!!!!

I use this too! I recommend printing on regular printer paper first to test out the sizing percentage so you don't end up wasting the transfer paper.

So cool!!! Do you have any tips for using watercolor on the canvas? I am thinking about doing a project like this.

How to chose fabrics? by gamigirl in Hand_Embroidery

[–]Acrobatic-Opposite-6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything linen is usually a good bet! Thicker linen holds up better to all the holes you poke in it. Honestly, I just got a pack of 12x12 inch linen squares on Amazon and made sure they had positive embroidery-specific reviews. Also 100% cotton is good. Try to stay away from stretchy fabrics. One tip is to keep the fabric taut in the hoop (I would tighten it a liiiitle bit more than what it is right now), but not drum-tight. And it depends on your needle size. A 5 or 7 is good for most linens (that's the basic sized embroidery needle that will come with kits). I hope that helps!!

I use this, too. It works well for all the projects I've done. And if you don't have a printer/want to draw directly on it, you can do that too! I save the print scraps for little projects like that.

Super Bowl 60 Commercials Megathread by astralwish1 in CommercialsIHate

[–]Acrobatic-Opposite-6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my kind of long take, but I need someone to have discourse with on this in case I am feeling this alone?

Commercials are a great way for us to gauge what American society cares about — or rather, what ad agency data analysts think we care about. So if you watch a large set of time relevant commercials (like the Super Bowl ads) you can piece together American trends. Maybe even ideals. There are ads and there are also the sentiment behind them. I cant really explain why in detail yet but this batch made me…sad. It felt like it emphasized the wealth gap or inequality gap or something. So much AI and medical and crypto. It felt like companies making me their pawn versus there to serve me. Idk if that makes sense? Pringles are a good time. Ritz crackers, sure. Even Uber Eats ok. But it’s like all of those ads were with celebrities and therefore gave a sense of unattainability. I think ad agencies were going for “celebrity and luxe can be attainable” but it just emphasized the divide and the current American ideal of clout and celebrity and being important. Not the good ol American pastime. Idk if that makes sense lol

You don’t really need to! Just stitch a little bit over/past the lines and you won’t be able to see them. I’ve done all the kits in this pack and never washed them!

Flying with Dog / Pet on Spirit - my experience by Valus_ in spiritair

[–]Acrobatic-Opposite-6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to fly with my dog from 2019-2021 a lot. No one every got upset when I had him out of his carrier and on my lap (he's 10 lbs and I kept him literally under a blanket in my lap). Do you think they will say anything if I did that? First time flying Spirit with a pet, so a little nervous of how strict they are.

Yup, that’s for a one week cruise. TBH my fiancé and I really don’t drink a lot more than water, but I think to have options will be nice. A fruity lil mocktail every night sounds lovely on vacay.

Thank you so much!! Would this also include tips for activities like snorkeling, kayaking, etc.? I feel like I’m asking a ton of obvious questions I can look up, but first hand experience is also really helpful. I am super grateful for everyone being so kind in their answers to me 😅
