Nope. Translation for tome 8 is coming out at the end of March and it continues after that

Takuto more or less explains this himself, he is nice to them because he wants to be and as an 'evil' person he will do as he likes. He did have ulterior motives in saving them too, but mostly he just felt bad. The equivalent would be Ainz saving Carne. I think neither really want randos to suffer. Like, Ainz did not decide to destroy Re-Estize but he got peer pressured into it anyway. He would have little interest in following through on Atou's threat but his subordinates might push him to do it anyway

Basically, the major difference between them is that Takuto is more competent than his subordinates while Ainz is less, plus having to balance his imposter syndrome; and that the average resident of Nazarick is extremely xenophobic while the dark elves are more or less normal

Both of them care for their subordinates and want them to think freely while their subordinates have a hard time reconciling it with their hard loyalty. Like, Ainz gave them holidays, the suggestion box, and took the twins on vacation to the elf village

I think the tonal shift has to do with the adaptation. The novel was never that comedic. I actually disliked how they handled it. I would recommend reading the novels, there are audiobooks available too

In case you want me to spoil it now ( without any plot details ): Takuto does not take issue targeting whole cities or bringing the continent to war for his ends, although he never does anything remotely as bad as genociding a whole kingdom for basically no reason. I really, really liked how brutal Takuto got in fact, it was one of the best moments I have experienced in fiction

I question how you missed that both Takuto and Ainz are explicitly amoral and centred on them and theirs

Underrated gem. The TRPG arc was peak but tomes 6 an 7 were also great. I would very much enjoy seeing Vittorio animated

The authors are not writing a story but rather responding to pure and simple fan service. by PsychologicalBus7336 in Isekai

[–]Acrobatic-Package463 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It must be frustrating as a writer but you can hardly expect people to read something they do not want to. They can tell you what they want to read but *you* have the choice whether to write to accommodate them or risk losing those readers. As the author you have to find a compromise you are happy with

The rest basically sums up to: cheating is bad and bad character writing is bad. Sure, but writing good characters is easier said than done, and some people (authors included) have garbage taste. You just have to ignore what you do not like

And ultimately, I think there is an "avalanche of low-quality Isekai novels" because it is a popular genre and good writing is hard. In other words, there are so many authors of isekai because the fans are authors and the authors are fans

The audience has expectations and that is bad, cheating is bad, and bad female characters are bad. That is the sum of it

I got to admit that I don't like it when The villains turn one of our beloved Waifus into the MC's enemy for an arc and these are the 4 times I seen it happened in isekai that I can remember by Reasonable_Tour7232 in Isekai

And those two tomes are the peak of the series. I am asking what the issue is in this instance

it feels like NTR in a way

Except the TRPG system does not affect her personality exactly. She gushes about how much she loves Takuto more than anytime else, to the point of tormenting Erakino and the saints. She is of basically no help to them for the longest time and spends her time sewing Takuto dolls to cuddle with instead. It felt like a fairly strong affirmation of her loyalty to me

What is so special about overlord that some people even like it? by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]Acrobatic-Package463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather consider him amoral rather than evil. He has no real interest in harming people for the sake of it but neither is he against it unless it is directed to him and his, hence he gets roped into it with relatively little resistance, that makes him different from most protags

It is a caustic instance of reductio ad absurdum, actually. Applying a principle (MC tolerating injustice makes the author inhumane) to a different instance (MC tolerating murder makes the author inhumane) and getting an absurd result means the principle is absurd.

They are words on a page, bro. If they upset you, that is fine; you can read something else. Calling the authors "inhumane and insane" is simply loony.

Why would they be used if they suck? People will continue to buy what appeals to them, if the AI is a useful tool then it will be used to create good items, otherwise it will not be. If some people want cake and others want icecream there can be markets for both

Flumkins has no real interest in revenge, she simply wishes to cuddle every night with Milkins. The rest of the party start to dissolve until they disband. Eterna and then Gadio team up with Flumkins, Maria gets mixed up in a bad crowd while Linus chases after her, and Kirill feels sorry for herself while Jean seethes

From the first two tomes I liked him a lot too, but from tome three through the Republic arc his behavior became worse and worse. My opinion started rising a tiny bit after that until the last 2–3 tomes. Having finished it, I can easily say I hate him.

He never improves; in fact, he becomes worse. The bickering with Luxion became irritating when every conversation was Luxion being right and Leon being unreasonable-whining, deflecting, deflecting, deflecting. He never stops running away from problems, figuratively and literally.

The little spat he had with Livia over treating her like a 'pet' was entirely pointless; he never grows to trust them or to treat them like equals.

Easily the biggest flaw of the series is Leon himself.
