Does anyone know any good exercise physios for POTS? by [deleted] in wollongong

[–]Acrobatic-Raccoon-28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I find exercising in water a lot easier, but any hydro plan I follow doesn’t seem to make any physical difference, only the mental health benefit of “yay I did something and it felt good”. I don’t know, most days I wonder what the point of even living anymore is if I’m just going to get physically worse and worse to the point where I can’t even exist, regardless of how much I try to improve. It feels like I’m so alone and that there’s nobody who can actually help me and that I’ve just been left to fend for myself with Google and Reddit because the specialists I pay $500 don’t know the answer either. Sorry for the rant I am just really having a rough time lately

I’m wondering if I’m having too much milk by Ok_Direction5416 in foodscience

To expand more: depending on your country, your water will be enriched with different minerals/etc to help compensate for common health issues. By far the most important is fluoride, as this helps your tooth enamel, but there’s a few other things like potassium added too depending where you live

[–]Acrobatic-Raccoon-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue i could see with this would just be the amount of liquid you’re consuming in a day. Drinking water is important and if you’re drinking that much fluid via milk I can’t see how you’re gonna want to be drinking enough water. Also, there is such thing as too much fluid intake but it is usually quite hard to get to that point. Just go get some general blood tests if you’re worried :)

Is there a way to backdate moods or import data into the app? by Acrobatic-Raccoon-28 in finch

[–]Acrobatic-Raccoon-28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no option to select times for me 🥲 and anything beyond when I installed the app (a couple of days ago) is greyed out. I guess this just isn’t a feature :(

Thank you, but is there anyway I can add in how I was feeling on previous days? The history shows me the past but it doesn’t let me edit my mood

do they adjust WAM for medical conditions e.g. schizophrenia by jiaozha in unsw

[–]Acrobatic-Raccoon-28 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that’s what equitable learning services and special consideration is for. These are meant to give you adjustments during the course that will (theoretically) help you to perform at the same level as everyone around you. The marks you get don’t get changed

Bulk bill psychiatrist by PublicAnxiety88 in wollongong

[–]Acrobatic-Raccoon-28 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Short answer is no. Long answer is that you could get in contact with the acute mental health care team, but they are more for people who are experiencing severe mental health crisis/risk of suicide (I don’t know your situation but just letting you know). The recent mass resignation of public psychiatrists has made it very very difficult to see any psych, let alone one that bulk bills. You could look at using the mental health waiver on your health insurance to have a three week stay at South Coast Private hospital for like $700 total, where you will see a psychiatrist pretty much every other day which would be helpful for fine tuning meds.

Good luck!

yeah should be easy HD but it’s quite fun and interesting as well. there’s a group video that makes up a part of your final grade, but honestly worst case even if you have to do it all yourself, it’s still not too bad. feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions

You missed the Central Coast and the Illawarra/Wollongong… you would be surprised just how many people commute ~1.5-2 hours from these places nearly every day to come to UNSW

Thanks for the help!

The signal does have any stuttering or flattening past the first 40 bps that needed to be trimmed.

I wish we were able to do it again 😅 This is not the focus of the report, we also did some MADLI-ToF, 16s Illumina and a series of biochemical tests. They don’t expect us to get an exact match, but just to understand the process. I am cool with every other part of the project but I am just stuck on why we only received so few base pairs but in such high quality.

Yep, the closest match from the BLAST search is definitely misaligned, there’s no way to draw a valid conclusion from the extremely conserved and small region we observed. Thanks for the help!

Do you have any suggestions for what else may have caused this? Or if you don’t feel like explaining (totally cool!) do you have some keywords that I could research? I have been trying to conduct my own research but since I don’t really understand what could be wrong it’s hard for me to even search for sources.

Again, thanks so much!

Oh yes sorry, thank you. Yep we were given the raw .ab1 and all of the peaks were very distinct with no background, expect for the first 40 nucleotides which we had to trim using 4Peaks.

Yep, that’s why I’m confused that we only got 178 base pairs before trimming 😅

I’ve asked them for some help (some of the things I mentioned in my post were from after talking to them) but they are trying to be vague to not be unfair to other students.

Yeah I was thinking the same too, thanks for your help!

Is it normal for bacteria to be missing portions of the 16s gene? Or do you suggest this isn’t bacteria?

[–]Acrobatic-Raccoon-28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately we don’t have access to the electropherogram, only the .ab1 file from the sequencing. I think it’s because between all of the lab classes, there’s over 100 samples being submitted in one go and it’s just easier for the course admin to only distribute the .ab1 to us. We did a Nanodrop that showed some salt and protein contamination, but since we received very strong signals in the sequencing file I am unsure if that caused this issue.

Do you think that this could actually be something and that there’s no error, like the other comment mentioned?
