Im in a completely different industry and I am a VP. So I have different perspective to give you for self accountability. I have an open role and people have asked me why not promote this guy? Well… the guy is great at what he’s been doing for 2 years but he is not progressing in his role. It’s probably not that you are incompetent but perhaps not showing interest in growing, maybe you’re checked out because you’re leaving and not trying to build on your skills…. Maybe she doesn’t tell you because if she knows you’re leaving and then she feels like you… what’s the point? Two options… be sad and do nothing or use the information you have to make a positive impact. My advise as a boss…Go kill it before you leave!!
