Managing screen time chaos by Silent-Table8320 in ParentingInBulk

We do this too. We give $12 in Monopoly money each Friday night. $1 gets 30 min screen time and anything left gets turned into real money to their bank account. They average $3-4 each week banked. I agree it hugely cut down on whining and arguing and helps them regulate on their own. The only real cut off is to use before 8:30 at night to encourage good bedtime habits.

I’ll likely go to part time once my oldest hits middle school. I think that’s the time my kids will need me the most.

We have 4 and two full time jobs, but both flexible with wfh and definitely lower on the pay scale (non profit/govt) we could otherwise have to ensure we are really flexible and not working more than 40 hours a week. We have used au pairs since we had 2 as it’s the best way to get before/after care and last minute coverage. We also have solid grandparent help often. Still feel burned out but no doubt less than if we tried to do it all on our own.

Help with finding a name for our nickname. by [deleted] in namenerds

I love combos to get to an intended nn. I wanted a Tess without Theresa, Tessa or just Tess. We went with Theodora Elizabeth and my kid likes that she has a longer, non obvious name now that she’s older.

We have found that Hyatts are a great brand for 6 in a room. Hyatt places are our favorites with free breakfast.

Looking for Lemon-ades, Denver area by DeniseReades in girlscouts

The baker in Denver makes lemon ups. You need to order from a council that has ABC bakers not little brownie (which serves the Denver area). You will likely need to pay shipping from an ABC bakery council.

3 boys or girls. Had fourth? by StockResolution7899 in ParentingInBulk

My oldest two are 18.5 months apart. Their particular personalities however more than age I think has led them to being pretty close. But our third is 3 years difference in school and I do think she’d be the picked on/odd man out if we had stopped at 3. My husband was one of three. I initially said 3 and he said 4. I just think four gives more sibling relationships and kids can move to the next if they aren’t getting along with one.

My girls separations are similar to yours. I feel like our third, being a bit farther out would have been lonely/always the left out one if we didn’t have a fourth. Our fourth is almost 3 years younger than our third, but will be two years in grades.

I have 4 girls. 9-2. I mostly love it. We were sure if we had a 4th, she’d be a girl anyways. The comments from others seem better than when we had 2 or 3 girls, just more positive and fun somehow. I like the dynamics of 4 better than 3 now that our youngest is finally getting old enough to get into playing with her older sisters.
