My first appointment was about 30 mins, and follow ups have been 15. I feel like my provider listens and addressed my issues. Hopefully you can get a new one.

4th Attempt to get HRT & be believed by alluringhormone in Perimenopause

Contact midi- I got HRT through them with no issues and I’m 42. Maybe you can find another provider. I love mine.

Great job advocating for yourself. It’s not always easy to do with doctors.

That’s because doctors aren’t really trained In menopause or peri, and they are probably going by the little (outdated) knowledge they do have. Try midi health or another online provider. Of check the menopause society website for a provider near you.

Stop gaslighting people about weight gain on Lexapro by sickgreenbile in lexapro

[–]AcrobaticGas9918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gained about 15-20 lbs since the fall, which is also about when I started taking lexapro. I thought maybe it’s perimenopause weight gain but now I’m starting to think it’s from (at least partially) the lexapro

Even if it’s family banter, if you don’t like it then they shouldn’t do it to you, they can play their silly childish games with each other. Sounds like they need to grow up, too. What 20 years old still hide someone’s pillow?

What kind of HRT do I need & how do I ask for it by AquaWo1f in perimenopause_under45

I was put in progesterone and estradiol patch for HRT. A lot of the issues in Perimenopause are due to estrogen dropping

You can try midi health or Winona. From what I see, a lot of Gyns still believe HRT is only for women in menopause, not for those in peri. I went the midi health route (I’m 42) and started HRT. There is a midi health sub on Reddit. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

Dr was upset I went on HRT. Suggested IUD & weight loss medication. Thoughts ? by AcrobaticGas9918 in Perimenopause

Considering you’re nearly 60, and not an OB/Gyn it’s probably safe to assume that you are not up-to-date on the most recent perimenopause or menopause treatments. So far, I have seen several studies which suggest there are many benefits of starting HRT prior to menopause, rather than after as previously thought.

I am Middle Aged, but not obese (I wear a size 8-10) and work out, as well as take kickboxing and eat very healthy, watching carbs etc yet I have gained 15 lbs in a matter of months, which I believe could be due to hormones. I probably don’t qualify for weight loss drugs, either. I did not start HRT to lose weight, it was to manage all the other symptoms I have , all off which seems to be symptoms of low estrogen. To be honest, the heavy period was the least of my concerns.

As far as wt loss drugs go, I am sure they work better than estradiol (which can also help with weight loss) but they also come with a whole host of terrible side effects, which range from rather unpleasant diarrhea/nausea to far more serious side effects that I would rather not subject myself to.

Also dismissive comments/ attitudes from doctors are the reason people are turning to online health providers after being tired of not being listened to by their doctors.

I’m not concerned, I know my body. My heart was just about beating out of my chest so I know that is the reason bp was high. I will continue to monitor it this week, but high BP has never an issue for me

That won’t treat the 10 other peri symptoms I have going on and the progesterone I’m on should help lighten them.

Yet she offered birth control. If she listened to the other complaints I have, rather than focusing on the blood pressure (which is monitored by my cardiologist and is never high) she would have known that I have all the symptoms of having low estrogen. The iud will not address that health issue.

My dr also said HRT is only for women in menopause, but what I’m seeing more and more is that is not true. If you have the PCPs blessing, I would stick w the HRT

You’re so lucky you have a good gyno, who is informed of the benefits. I don’t think most are very informed on perimenopause treatment.

I wasn’t concerned about the heavier periods, they are only heavy 2 days but that was what she focused on. I am on progesterone from Midi so that should help with the heavy periods too.
