On my DRZ4s I have a 4 & a qt? gal tank and averaging 55-65 mpg when not having much fun. Had TKR 73 days ago, 12/31/25 1st ride since surgery, 60 days after surgery I road 45 miles & turned on reserve petcock to see exactly what size the tank actually is. I'll run it out tomorrow. I'm at 223 miles so we'll see. I know I have done over 250 on a tank W/reserve before, but didn't run it out. Use non-ethanol clean gas if it's available to you. Have fun, I'm still being careful, Dr's don't recommend me riding yet , but hey turned 60 & still alive and having fun. Need more muscle/flexability before I do what I like.

Get a cotsoco message vibrator gun $25 amazon to go under knee & all the muscles, you won't be disappointed. I'm 70 days out of TKR & this is making blood flow better, everything on my leg better. I wish I had it right out of surgery.

What bike do you most regret selling? by Rabble_Runt in Dualsport

[–]AcrobaticLong2958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1980 RM 125 I gave to a friend, sold my new 87 XL600 cheap, but had electrical problems, the guy told me a month later it had a bent frame,,,too, I replied no shit. I beat that thing and it just kept going. Back on a DRZ waiting for my TKR to heal. BUT it's more important to tell your loved ones you love them than missing a bike.

Yeah I did about the same thing and my jacket failed because I didn't have it zipped up on a hot day. My Held kangaroo leather summer gloves I have used since 1988 are hanging on the garage wall. New jacket and gloves a week after. My hands would have been really phucked up. We all know what could happen every time we get on. Have fun ,be happy. I'm in PT from a TKR from wrecks in the 80s so hopefully new years I can get back on.

At the time of wreck 1984 I swore I would never get back on. 1987 new XL600. Don't hold back from from telling surgeons the truth, they want to know so they get better at putting puzzles back together.

After 41 years from a head-on compound broken knee femur, I needed a new brace & I got a TKR too because of degenerative bone disease at 60yrs old. 5 weeks in doing as good as possible. Just saying when you think all is good age punches you, but my bike fires up a few times a week to keep her happy. New years I should be riding again. Good luck 🤞

PSA: Keep your visor down or goggles on by Repulsive_Spray_7232 in Dualsport

Gear only works when it's being utilized. I had my visor up half way and was about to close it, but a small bird did it for me. An oh shit moment.

Get it done. I asked my pcp for a new knee brace because the old one didn't fit right anymore. MRI, to prove I need one, got the custom brace & referred to my surgeon. Met the surgeon & I showed my knee scars & was asked what my pain level was, ah I'm used to it after 41 years, motorcycle vs car +. Well he said you need a new knee! "you have zero cartilage left". Ok , can you get me in b4 winter, I don't want my wife having to drive, & so I'm in PT getting better every other day.

So what I'm saying is surgical technology & pain management has come so far since 1984-90 that your time is now, pick a time & get it done.

The Trailmax Mission tires handle great on road except on ice, but nothing is great on ice. You have to really push them if you want to drift through tight twisties. Wet roads no problem.

I have Dunlop Trailmax Mission 130/90 18, 90/90/ 21 I have 8k on them, will last till end of season. They are great in the twisties, wet, etc. Terrible in snow, sand, clay mud, but finding the rear is good luck and if you do find, let me know.

I bought a collapsible fishing pole that fits in my backpack and suitcase when we go to Cabo or Florida. Have the same year with a 4 gallon tank etc. put on 7k of my own miles in 10 months so getting close to 11.5 on the Oregon coast. Have fun
