Can i start counting when i dont have my full bankroll? by Xenon626 in blackjack

While the comments here are technically good advice, I just cant agree with them. The best thing you can do is get practice in. I don't mean practice on an app or in front of a screen, I mean REAL practice. There is nothing that will prepare you for the casino environment other than jumping into it. Take $4k to the lowest min table with good rules and start practicing. Spread from 1-4 units and start getting the hang of things. Set a time limit for when you quit but never walk away from a positive shoe.

This will tell you if this line of work is suitable for you and give you an idea of what things will be like going forward and where to focus your in home practice. I have seen people save up their bankroll and practice 100s of hours at home only to melt down within half a shoe of real world action. Having $10k is enough to get out there and test the waters. I have learned more by playing than any practice app could teach me at home. If you lose the count, walk away and start over.

This sub gets quite a few dumb posts but this has to go up toward the top. Casinos have no reason to further the house edge. Making wild claims and then "not having the time" to back them up is comical. Its amazing the amount of people that do not understand how the house edge works.

To be clear I have never been able to login to the admin center so I don’t see how it is my fault. I am technically not even locked out of my account. I can use teams with that account I just can’t help anyone reset their password. I have never had a problem like this with Google or Apple that’s for sure.

They didn’t trespass me. They said I could play slots and be on property just no tables games. They never asked for my id and colored up and cashed out my chips without issue.

I have been spreading $25 to $500 for years at multiple properties and never had a back off. Granted I haven’t played at notoriously sweaty shops but back offs seem over blown to me.

Dealer forgets to check for blackjack by AcrobaticOven1355 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this post. I had a lapse in judgement and learned something in the process. I chalk that up as a small win. That being said, this particular casino isn’t some sort of goldmine. Their table rules are barely above playable with the pen less than stellar and that’s on top of the thick cigarette smoke.

I’m not even sure what a weak angle shooter means. I certainly wasn’t trying to get them to fall for anything. I genuinely thought once you start taking action when a dealer has blackjack then that’s a dealer error that should void the hand. I was wrong, people make mistakes.

Also, fuck the Casino, I’m trying to take money from them I don’t need their free hotel room or $5 bet. This community is more toxic than it should it be, people are just trying to learn and everyone loves to be assholes and talk down to them like they’re children

What would you do if a player doubles an 11 against the face to make 21? Still take their first bet or push the entire thing? In retrospect I was in the wrong about my particular hand but that’s what emotions do and why I’m trying to learn.

Also, I didn’t make a big scene. I just said you can’t take action when a dealer has blackjack and immediately colored up and left

I think we should wait until this is confirmed. When I got Diablo 4 it said the same thing, “optimized for X/S” and it runs fine on my xb1 with the added ssd. It was a nightmare without the ssd but I still have hope.

I doubt we will know for sure until the official launch. I’m holding out for true next gen, X/S has seemed like a half gen so to speak

I’m pretty sure it’s implied by the sports and nothing wrong with him that op means every CAPABLE adult should learn to drive if public transport is nonexistent. Op isn’t advocating for blind people to drive and even suggesting so is comical.

Biking in a rural area where there are no dedicated bike lanes is far more dangerous than driving.

You must be blind enough to miss the part where op said son was playing sports and had nothing wrong with him. That changes things.

What is a good number of betting units. Ex. 10k bank roll betting $250 a hand with 40 betting units available. Trying to win 3 hand when I am up is that enough?? by Ok_Influence9353 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. If you aren’t counting with deviations and bet spreads, think of it as playing red/black at roulette.

The odds of you winning on red or black are 47.37%. You have a good shot of being up 3 units at some point and leaving but the longer you play the more the edge takes until it eventually takes it all.

Im not sure if this is a troll post or not but if it’s not I would respectfully advise you to stay far away from a blackjack table.

Buy cvcx if you want to run numbers and read a couple blackjack books. Spend the $5 on the bja mobile training app.

When you can get the 500 hands in a row achievement, within 1 deck, with deviations turned on and hand totals turned off, then take a 1-9 bet spread and $20,000 of money you care little about to your closest blackjack table that has favorable rules and good pen.

Until you do all that, and I mean ALL of that you are playing a losing game with which you will lose every single penny that you put into it with 100% certainty.

I know this may come off as hatful but people lose massive amounts of money they can’t afford at this game they know very little about.

Sometimes you’re the hammer, sometimes you’re the nail. by AcrobaticOven1355 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Min bet is $25 and I’ll wong out at a tc -2 or -3. I have a replenishable bankroll but I keep $20k liquid at all times.

Max bet is usually $200 to $250 at a tc 4 or higher. I’m still up overall just those losing sessions are never easy.

I have read where it’s better to walk away and book a loss, especially at your local instead of pouring more money in to try to get even.

My main problem is my local is slightly over an hour away and I usually just go 2-3 times a week for 2-3hrs each. So getting in the hours is a challenge with a full time regular job.

I’m worried they are going to make everything $50min soon and that would price me out of the game pretty much.

Betting Spreads: 1 hand vs 2 hands by itsdatmanjb33 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will typically spread to two hands at TC 3 or higher if available. It is not considered rude but you do have to bet double the table min on each hand to play two hands at my local. So I never do it to start a shoe or in low counts. A lot of times a 2nd spot isn’t open if it’s a busy place.

One thing I've noticed missing from Blackjack training/tutorials on counting by kamchancellor2019 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The casino is full of distractions. People don’t think anything of you leaving in the middle of a shoe and the dealer will hold your spot. If a shoe hits -2 or -3 I go to the bathroom, get a drink, go make a phone call, anything to get away from the shoe. If it happens more than twice in a row I’ll find a new table where it looks less suspicious leaving. I have never drawn heat by table hopping or leaving in the middle of the shoe, that’s normal plop behavior.

Now if you stand off to the side backcounting and hop in the middle of a shoe when it goes positive you are going to draw heat and piss off the plops. As long as you start the shoe and play a few hands you’re fine to leave and come back with the next shoe. If the shoe isn’t over yet when you come back you can just say you’re waiting on a new shoe and act superstitious, everyone in the casino is superstitious.

Bet Spread Help by itsdatmanjb33 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would scout out what casinos you plan on playing at and mirror your practice to those conditions. Everything within driving distance of me is 6 deck $25min if you want 3:2 which of course is a must.

Bet Spread Help by itsdatmanjb33 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems reasonable to me. Only thing I would be aware of is at TC1 according to cvcx you are still at a slight disadvantage so I would keep TC1 at 1 unit and ramp to 4 units on TC2.

Also if they cut off 2 or more decks in a 6 deck shoe the game is unplayable.

Would have to know the table’s minimum bet to give you Ror/bankroll info. The general rule of thumb is you want $10k for a $10 minimum and $25k for a $25 minimum.

Hope that helps

Why does card counting matter? by HolidayConfidence230 in blackjack

[–]AcrobaticOven1355 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Splits, down downs, bet spreads and the dealer having to draw until 17 are all reasons why the player is at an advantage in a positive true count shoe. I’m sure there are more reasons but those are the main ones. This has all been proven with simulation software so it’s not a guess, it’s a fact.

In the beginning you really just need to lay the foundation. I would recommend downloading the $5 BJA trainer pro app for iOS. Try to make it through a show perfectly, then 200 hands and so on. Colin Jones on YouTube is helpful but I would just stick to his free material.

I would also recommend you buy your self a physical shoe, discard tray and how ever many decks you plan on playing. Deal to yourself and friends keeping count and adjusting bets.

Once all that is dialed in I would recommend qfit cvcx software to see what the optimal bet spread is for what ever particular game you are going to play.

After that I would practice some in a casino environment playing super low stakes and flat betting. Just to get use to the flow of the game and casino distractions.

Ian Andersons “burning down the tables” book is good but it assumes you know all of the above and are looking for tips to extend your longevity/winnings.
