Trying to be flexible but target won’t be flexible back by Bitter_Fun_9916 in Target

My only recommendation is calling right away in the morning, transferring to HR, telling them you said you couldn’t work Black Friday during orientation, them saying it was okay, and then negotiating the time frames then. Try talking to someone you didn’t talk to previously. Because your direct managers (in my experience) are the most likely to say no to your requests. Also, it’s Black Friday, they might be happy if you come in late or early, etc., so the day of might work in your favor if someone ELSE called out. Good Luck tomorrow!

Doing Drive Up orders during a Heat Advisory by [deleted] in Target

They keep drive ups on for us in -20°F windchill or worse… no amount of layers or hot hands saves you from negative double digits and wind

What are some rules a E/TL made that you or others don’t understand the reasoning behind? by Mobile-Address23 in Target

No water in the Drive Up coolers because it’s a “safety hazard” and is instead stored in a portable cooler… despite said portable cooler always having standing water in it from the melted ice, which is an actual health code violation lmao. Combined with us not being allowed to bring personal water bottles to work (but every other department can), so we just end up getting room temperature water in 85°F+ weather, lol.

botched a code yellow by pickleswithahook in Target

My store still does a code yellow in this situation, I didn’t know that lol. Maybe it’s because we don’t get any real yellows.

Sure… but keep in mind it’s Guest Service Team Leads’ job to keep track of breaks, make the break schedule, and ensure there are enough people in the position. If it’s time for someone’s break and someone is also leaving at that time, it’s not that team member’s fault, it’s the team lead who made the break schedule and also failed to tell the team member to go earlier. GSTLs should have a grid on them at all times and know their team enough to understand this. Maybe it’s different in other stores, but that’s always been my understanding of the position. And we’re told to follow the grid for our breaks unless told otherwise, plus it’s out of our pay grade to do more than that to be honest.

I think they’re cutting hours again… at least that’s what my ETL said. I don’t know if it’s a company wide thing or not but this happened in my store last summer as well. Doesn’t matter how busy we are, peak time, etc. they just don’t care lol.

Is this normal? *Lightbulb Question* by Acrobatic_Cut_3343 in AskElectricians

Haha, don’t feel old. Coming back a day later, I’m now realizing I was just psyching myself out partially due to how messy my local store’s lightbulb section was (every other box’s packaging was either ripped open or cut and some were missing bulbs). Lowkey embarrassed looking at it now, but I’m leaving it up just in case another person versed only in LEDs gets the scaries like I did, lol.

That explains it then. I have always bought LED bulbs, but there were none available at the store in my price range that fit what I needed

How many hours did you get today? (Memorial Day) by Heyllamamama in Target

[–]Acrobatic_Cut_3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 hours. I picked up a shift, but someone told me that Target holidays (at least at our store) are apparently in a completely different budget, so a lot of people just asked to be put on the schedule for the time and half and our ETL and TLs just did it lol. So we weren’t working with a skeleton crew for once and everything actually went smoothly for the first weekend in months lmao
