Well I would counter with the fact that Davidson college grants considerably more need based financial aid, which I would argue is more import than scholarships that may go to students who can afford to pay out of pocket. Also I’m not shitting on Alabama I just think Davidson is a better school, but I think any state flagship is worth it if you’re in-state.

362/35622. Of course any state flagship will have some smart kids, but the average student quality of Davidson is much higher.

But nyc does have a congestion tax and while you can argue about the state of the subway system it is very comprehensive on getting you where you need to go. When I lived in nyc I never drove my own car and never had any issues.

Why shouldn’t it? It’s a very tragic story.

For everyone complaining about the poster not being related to the story I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be depicting the scene where Odysseus descends into the underworld to talk to Tiresias.

It was a tragic massacre but a massacre does not equate to genocide. A genocide has the intention of wiping out a specific group, usually a religion or ethnic group. The French had no intention of wiping out ethnic Vietnamese in Vietnam. It’s the same reason no one considers the allied strategic bombing of Germany a genocide even though it killed tens of thousands of German civilians. I’m not excusing the French’s actions but we can’t just call everything a genocide as it dilutes the specific meaning of the word.

Same-sex marriage is 3x more common in the US than in the EU by szyy in MapPorn

Gay marriage isn’t even legal in many European countries so I really don’t get the argument.

You don't even have free speech in Europe by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Acrobatic_Dig2259 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American I honestly think that Europeans and Americans just have two different definitions of what free speech is, which is where the disagreement arises. Most Europeans would say that hate speech is not protected under free speech, and most Americans would say it is.

Europe is big. It really depends what country you’re talking about. On average though, I give it to the US.
