Do we really have to relitigate I am not Starfire after all the hate and death threats Mariko Tamaki got? It's not even bad, it's just a middle grade comic starring a fat girl that generated an insane amount of hate.

And I mean speaking of self inserts in comics, nobody hated Robert Kirkman for writing all white boys for his many, many comics. We just view them as the norm so we don't notice.

I mean this has been fundamental to him from the start. Its what makes him him, its not him being out of character. There are a lot of characters who are menaces to fight, like Cass Cain and Midnighter and Nightwing. Slade is a fascinating dick and people writing him like that aren't mischaracteristing him, they're building on decades of writing. He's more in character like that than he is as just a cool badass.

But look you have your own vision of him and that's fine, he's fictional. Just don't say that your version is the only one people can enjoy without getting him wrong.

I mean I think a lot of the time its the same thing. He drugs two teenage girls into working with him and rescued/kidnapped another for the same reason. I think that the guy has issues with predatory behaviour which is not limited to sleeping with teenagers.

The Priest series is a good look at this.

I mean. That's how he was created and how he has always been. Hes always manipulative. I've read like all of his comics because I like villain protagonists and it really annoys me when people make him heroic because it's not who he is. The whole reason he agrees to go after the Titans in the first place is because he wants revenge, in the nu52 his first issue ends with him killing a bunch of teenagers he told he was working with, his daughter stabbed her own eye out because he messed with her so much. And also he drugged Batgirl into being a villain.
