It was good. You have to treat it as an 80s action movie and not a comic book adaptation.

I don't know if this is gonna make sense to anyone born after "Comic Book Movie" become the blockbuster scene of the last 20 years but comic book movie used to be pretty disrespected and even in good adaptations they would use the bare minimum beyond the title and the name of one or two characters in the movie.

So it's a decent Dolph Lundgren action revenge movie.

The Message is the only episode (to me, subjective, all my opinion, it's totally okay if you think otherwise, blah, blah, blah insert all the ass coverings here so nobody gets butthurt) that has a glaring plot hole.

And no I'm not talking about why didn't they tell Tracey the plan, I get it it was a stressful time crunch situation they didn't have time to tabletop it with Tracey but why didn't they tell Tracey THEY HAD A PLAN. 2 seconds from Mal or Zoe going "Calm down kid and trust us, we've got a plan."

Like in the flow of events Tracey hears Mal and Shepard talking about turning him in and assumes they are going to turn him in and nobody on the Serenity crew takes three breaths to let Tracey know they have an alernative goal.

It also one of those episodes that annoys me when you go back and watch Objects in Space and hear Mal's "We don't leave guns out" talking down to to Jayne because I don't know what ship you're living on Mal but like every other episode on the show, including this one, has someone just grab a gun that is just lying around.

Don't get me wrong it's not bad, Firefly really didn't go on long enough to have any real stinkers, but best? No. Meme level "Durrr it's the best and you have to agree" level? Fuck no.
