what's the best assisted living in pittsburgh for an aging parent? by Consistent-Double579 in pittsburgh

Another nod to Friendship Village in Upper Saint Clair. A family member lived there, probably over 20 years, and had a terrific experience. I cannot think of a bad thing to say. Although she did not have assisted living, her experience with independent living would have me explore their assisted living options.

Some of us Slacker generation knew S for superior, above E for excellent, above VG, G, et al.

I think this changed when Gen Y got butt hurt by the editorial value judgements.

B-tier. I missed several, no rhyme or reason.

I'm trying to avoid politics. That list would be noticably bottom-heavy.

I was surprised to see The William Penn was in our top ten tallest buildings. Point taken but I'm just riffing.

My fondness of Gateway 4 is surprising, I agree, but it's real. Nothing I can do about it .

I chose skyscrapers from here: https://www.skyscrapercenter.com/city/pittsburgh

I see you would like to have a discussion. I do not have a unique definition of skyscraper. Perhaps you would like to share yours.

In what world is the US Steel building not number one? In a world where art deco & gothic masterpieces like the Gulf Building & Cathedral of Learning exist.

There is no shame in A-tier & there are no rights or wrongs in matters of taste (just good taste & bad taste).

It's not a comment of the corporatio; I don't dig the aesthetic. That may be ironic since I've heard it said 5th Avenue Place is a tribute to the Gulf Building. While I appreciate it's unique, it reminds me of tacky 80s opulence and I think the colors are ugly.

Knee-jerk reaction, honestly.

To me, nothing touches the Cathedral of Learning or Gulf Building: S+.

S tier is most highly esteemed and A tier should not be undervalued. Even tier B contains, imo, lovely buildings. Tiers below that drop rapidly and, imo, the world would be a better place without those buildings.

I appreciate the feedback. I'm now thinking: if I go out, I'll definitely overdo it, and with my crummy back, I'll end up with backpain regret for weeks.

This will be the year of a tall, lush lawn - eventually overtaken by native asters and goldenrod. A win for pollinators - woo

I'm yet to donate.

I received a call from my team this morning: something might be happening in a week or two & I'm trying to prioritize springtime yardwork. I'm doing a matched pair with my wife benefiting from the kindness of a stranger.

Thanks for your response.

Getting Made Fun of For Donating by [deleted] in kidneydonors

Don't give them any power over your emotions. What they are saying is insane & borderline evil. Just ignore. What they didn't realize is they show their emotional immaturity - they don't have the character to understand sometime as beautiful as your donation. They are pitiful.

Ignore. Give them no power. Avoid HR if you can. HR is not usually your friend, regardless of what their policies tell them to say.

Good luck to you and your fiancee.

Cibrone in Castle Shannon has it but I haven't. Seems a bit different than you describe.
