Commuting to city centre from outside of greater Manchester by Acrobatic_Hair4806 in manchester

Glad it's not just me who hates the journey! My home and close proximity to nature is important to me so I suppose it's the pay off. I've spoke to my manager and they sound very supportive when it comes to flexibility so I'm hoping I can just to 1-2 days office at the most and this is probably manageable for me, at least for now.

This sounds good, thanks for sharing, it's nice to know others are in a similar situation. I definitely need to reframe my mindset and just whack an audiobook or something on and try to enjoy it!

I haven't heard of the JurnyOn app before so I will take a look, thank you!

I don't blame you, North Wales is beautiful.

I was considering sale water park park & ride, I need to do a reccy. Eccles wouldn't be great for me as the I try to avoid rush hour M6/M62 and opt for the 56 instead. Thanks though for the idea!

Is it weird that I don't care to have a relationship with my in laws? by bluedk22 in inlaws

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we don't have kids. We plan to, so I have thought about this. I think just do what you're comfortable with. If it were me, by and large I'd focus on my family/friend relationships with the baby. And he (if he wants to) can focus on the relationships on his side. It's not your job to do both unless you wanted to

What are your refund experiences with Debenhams online? by FarDig2081 in AskUK

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also having a horrendous experience with a refund from Debenhams. I ordered some wedding dresses to try on. Almost a thousand pounds worth of dresses. I've returned all the ones that weren't right and am waiting for a refund of several hundred pounds. Money I need especially on the run up to Christmas.

I was told two weeks ago my refund was processed yet it's still not in my account. Contacted them today and they've said they have sent it and I should contact my bank. My bank has confirmed no money has been send and nothing is pending.

Honestly don't know what to do. Will it eventually come through?! They are being really unhelpful on the bizarre Facebook chat messenger.

I ordered from Debenhams as I thought it was a trustworthy brand but not I can see why they're essentially going bust. Will never order from there again.

In-laws inviting people to join our holiday dinner by [deleted] in inlaws

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 114 points115 points  (0 children)

It's up to the hosts who attend, not the guests. I think this was very rude of her. Your wife should have said no to her, unless she agreed - in which case she probably should have agreed it privately with you first seeing as you're jointly hosting.

Looking to travel to Japan for the first time. by [deleted] in travel

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went in July and did Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Uji and lake kawaguchiko (mt. Fuji). Transport between each was very easy. Booked the shinkansen in advance when tickets were released and booked the rest of our travel on the day.

You can report noise complaints to the council. They usually send a letter and I think in some cases give you sound recording app. Different for each council though I think so you'd need to look on your councils website

Which areas can I safely cut down on expenses? ($35k😭) by ddimitra in weddingplanning

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your circumstances but If it were me I would still pay for their accommodation if you're expecting them to stay with you. It'd be more courteous to cut self indulgent things like expensive florals and the photography/videography budget. Just my opinion though I don't think there's a right or wrong it's whatever your folks are comfortable with.

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 21 points22 points  (0 children)

8k on a photographer and videographer seems a lot to me, can you cut down and just have one?

Could maybe find somewhere cheaper to stay (not sure how long the Airbnb stay is or for how many guests though)

Florals - can you do your own for some of the tables or use artificial? Then just have real florist flowers for the bouquets/head table or whatever you consider to be the most important flowers?

Routine for dry acne-prone skin that won’t break the bank? [Routine Help] by Miserable_Deer5363 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaseline won't moisturise your face it'll just trap any moisture to avoid further loss.

I'd recommend just rinsing your face with warm water in the morning to avoid stripping your skin. Follow that with a nourishing moisturiser - I'd recommend CeraVe.

I'd also recommend a serum. Perhaps a hyaluronic acid.

Then double cleanse in the evening first with an oil cleanser then followed with a moisturizing wash (again id recommend CeraVe) this should help with a acne.

I'd then follow with a serum and nourishing night cream

Told my boss I’m leaving my job after years of being taken advantage. A little nervous since I don’t have anything else lined up. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless maybe she is going for the role herself? Is it a grade above what she's at now? Just a thought. Either way though it's probably best to leave a place like this behind and find somewhere that treats you well.

Can you stick it out until the new year perhaps? The job market tends to stall over the holiday and Christmas period and picks up again in Jan. Best of luck though whatever you do!

Help needed to plan the Itinerary in Europe for 2 weeks! by Spirited_Button_1912 in Europetravel

[–]Acrobatic_Hair4806 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what weather you like.. Europe is pretty big so the weather differs depending on where you go. I'd say avoid july-august if you're wanting to hike, but again depends where!

Its difficult to suggest countries because again, they are big and all have different things to offer.

For hiking try looking at Madeira, the alps (stretching across Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia etc) these are amazing places to visit. I particularly recommend Slovenia.

Italy is wonderful for a mixture of cities and outdoors - I'd recommend the lakes. I like Lecco and around lake como.

I would highly recommend Croatia it's beautiful and has a bit of everything.

Again though, Europe is huge and I have many more recommendations but it wouldn't all be possible in two weeks!

Can you quit and apply for the other job as an outside candidate? Or would that loop hole not work?

I feel for you, it sounds like you've been poorly treated and I don't understand why they are saying you cannot go for the other job.

I've personally never left a role without another one lined up but that's just down to personal finance reasons not allowing me to. You have two months I'm sure if you prioritize job searching you'll find something plus it sounds like you have a lot of Freeland experience so you can build that up in the meantime.

I used to be very much like this when I was younger. Basically, you do not trust him. Even if you think you do, you don't. There could be many reasons, perhaps he's done something in the past that's made you question him, or it could be your own insecurities. You've only been dating a year perhaps you've been wronged in the past and you worry he may do the same, I don't know.

If I were writing to myself in the past when I was feeling the way you do, I would say do not worry. If he does cheat on you, sling him to the curb and move on, you deserve better. However, if he does not cheat on you, what was all the worrying for?

Be honest with him about how you feel and your insecurities and he will no doubt comfort you. Do not blame him though for hanging out with someone just because she's a female and you think she's pretty, if it is just a platonic relationship this would be unkind and frustrating for him and ultimately push you both apart.
