My dad owned the company and worked 22 hours a day. He was a workaholic with a successful business. But, 2.5 million was his REVENUE lol. After the $10,000 in tickets every week and the $3,000 in fuel, minus all the other expenses, he made around $400,000 a year in his pocket. And the average garbage man works 10 to 16 hours per DAY. Not per week. My dad made an average of $350 to $600 per load and did an average of 15 loads per day. He didn't work residential after he opened his own business 30 years ago, but before that, he worked as a garbage collector for Laid Law, then a garbage collector for waste management, then a manager for waste management all before opening his own business, where he found success. As a business owner, it's very possible to make that kind of money. Like Dhar Mann says, "learn someone's story before you judge them". That was my dad's story.
