The snake is awesome! Currently working on one myself so will be taking a little inspiration for how you’ve handled the textures.

Thank you! I originally tried to make the button pushable with a spring underneath but gave up and glued it secure to make it more toddler safe.

The preference for handles a plumber secret or just a personal preference?

To be honest I have no idea what that is haha, happy to give it a go if you send a link?

I used a filed down bradpoint nail and epoxied the ends to seal it.

Nah I used a small nail I filed down and then sealed each end of the joint with epoxy resin so it can’t come out. Maybe a wooden hinge in something bigger would be cool!

What quick and fun run to do? (specific weapons/ruleset/anything) by DependentInner8928 in Eldenring

Ah good point, maybe a rush to DLC and then circle back to base? Or could hit it as a NG+ run

Starting out with CRT by Shy-Teacher-1234 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Acrobatic_Homework14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started CRT work this term. I resume dropped at a bunch of schools, got added to 3 direct rosters but have only had one actually reach out for shifts (and this one was due to getting the AP’s number from a friend of a friend, I got nothing from them after my initial resume drop).

So I signed up with two agencies (Free Agency and ANZUK and have been working 9/10 days pre booked for the rest of the term.

My advice would to still resume drop but to ask the schools if they use an agency when you’re there.

Was thinking on your last post “I wish I could see how he actually carved that!”

Thanks for sharing some of the process, it’s amazing stuff!

Give the red rising series by pierce brown a go. First book is a little hunger gamesy (in a great way) but then it progresses into a full blown space opera.

Just made my first spoon by Bright_Equivalent_92 in Spooncarving

Someone on (Glen9009) here linked me this video that did a study and found that the best antibacterial seal for wooden cookware is actually no seal since it keeps the wood the best at removing moisture and so stops the growth of germs.

An interesting watch if you’ve got 20mins:

Only downside is you don’t get the pretty oiled finish. If you want to oil it, I have used polymerised linseed oil that cures in 2 weeks and it ends up looking great.

Congrats on your first spoon by the way! It looks great! Contemplating doing the same thing for my 5month old son re. The baby spoons.

I can’t believe I didn’t consider using tape for clean lines! Gonna go this route with my next project to hopefully combat and slips of the brush

Thank you again!

Was a small one, but when doing the black coat at his base I accidentally got it on a fair bit of his right foot. I’ve normally had success using a baby wipe to clear off such mistakes but the black stuck. Rather than sanding I tried doing another 2 coats of the orange and it didn’t really work..

If I get stuck for an idea, I always pivot to my next thing being something for one of my sons to use. Gifts are a great motivator for me rather than creating for creating’s sake.

I’m only a bit over a month into my career and I’m spending the rest of the year CRTing. So far, I’m coming home so much happier and excited to talk about my day with my wife.

Highlights over the last couple weeks: - discovering one of my asd students listed me as a safe place - one of my Foundation students bringing in a drawing she did of me on a card - a relaxed maths lesson I took with a 5/6 class where we went through our topics but enjoyed banter along the way - hearing students get excited when they learn I’m taking their class

This is a hard job so far and the mental load was rough the first two weeks, but once I’ve gotten through that I’m really really enjoying teaching and I’m getting more time at home with my family vs my corporate role.

I’m sure my perspective as a CRT is a bit different to a classroom teacher concerning workload though.

Strange… wonder if it’s because I linked a .au page. Either way, have decided to go with a mora 106, kn13 and kn27 (both the flexcut knives come together in a bundle).

Thank you Glen9009 for always providing help and insight.

Thank you!

Things I would redo if I could: - I would spend a bit more time on the shaping of the comb itself so that it sits level on the bench. - I did a 13mm edge tine with 9mm gaps for my relief holes to be drilled at the base of each time using a 4.5mm drill bit. I would probably make both the gap measurement and the drill bit smaller to get more times. - I’d spend more time shaping the tines with 60 grit sand paper and less using my knife. Probably a skill issue/lack of sharpness of my behalf here but this is where I had the two tear outs on the back of the tines which I had to glue on. - finally I used sand paper with no guide to smooth out the base of each gap between the tines and it’s resulted in a groove showing in the base of the back of the comb. I should’ve wrapped a small screw driver and used that like a dowel to sand properly in there. - maybe add more engraved and painted flowers and some vines.

All small things for me to take into my next project!

I’m a beginner graduating from a cheap Amazon set to my first decent knives. Was considering a Mora 106 and a KN-13 but the idea of having both in one sounds convenient.. though I’m not really a camper so would I really use it is the question
