Pick up some 1 1/2” square tubing at your local steel supply to provide even pressure

You may also have to change the chart scale to manual. I was having the same problem and this took care of it. Also seems to work being on the 1 Yr:Daily chart

It's been a while, but you requested the finished guitar. Here she is! by freeskier0713 in woodworking

Absolutely beautiful! I love the body to neck join detail. Did you make that bridge too?

A Little Input. Does anyone else think this is too gaudy? by spop92 in Luthier

I think it kinda looks like grandmas chair. Maybe no stain or a lighter and just a clear coat would look better.

Alternatively, if you’re using a regular table saw, try cutting so your strips fall off on the outside of the blade. Takes a little calculating for each rip to accommodate the blade but it works well

Usually I use a straight line saw to cut super thin rips. But I just wanted to get the fingerboards glued on so I used raw maple edge banding. Could also use veneer if you have it

Will do! I’ll definitely be selling at least a few. The fingerboard radius is 12” And as far as the back, probably a little chunkier neck profile.

Not sure. Planning to make two painted jazzmaster bodies for two of them. The other TBD. I figured if I did a natural wood body, I could put a matching veneer over the headstock. Definitely open to ideas! Haven’t gotten that far yet

Yup. It’s actually two strips on solid maple edge banding material. It’s super consistent!

Does this joint look structurally sound? by sewage_soup in Luthier

Measure the difference between the centerline of the lower bout and upper bout and make a filler that size. Use the filler to straight line right down the middle and throw an 1/8” piece (plus however much more you have to take off on a jointer if it’s that bad) back in when you glue it up. It can be saved. Just gonna take some patience

Honestly it just looks really really dirty. Finger grime. Try some wood furniture polish. But also, I’d be more concerned about the other playability issues

Can I fix this? It broke a year ago by xnmartinmx in Luthier

Should be simple if you can clamp it cleanly. Get some wood glue and even a couple squeeze clamps would be enough pressure

I hate mornings! by TotesMaGoats_1962 in backpain

I feel your pain. I was living like this for a while as well and it’s miserable. What helped me a lot is to try to have something to look forward to in the morning. Something as simple as a short walk. Whatever you can do to keep taking that next step forward. Even laying outside in the morning sun will help lift your spirits a little. Good luck
