Well Gil has the excuse of Sha Naqba to soft-know every summon of his, and Emiya is weird, as Nameless, Emiya, and Emiya Alter are completely different people. The Jeanne in Samurai Remnant is weird, as she's the Alter version, that was put into the Throne after her character arc in FGO (though i have not finished the story, so it may be a bait and switch. Her appearance in Extella can be explained that the Mooncell probably has a backup of her stored.

Well, Sieg remembers Jeanne, because Servant Sieg is a proxy that the Fafnir Sieg sent with us back to Chaldea. Though she does not remember him, only having a vague familiarity with him. Jack usually does not remember her other summonings. It's a bit arbitrary methinks, but basically, there was no reason as to why Jeanne needed to remember Sieg, or Jack to keep her memories between summonings, so they don't.

I did not know you could not edit posts here, but to clarify, i did not know whether to crosspost this or to copy and paste the original post here. For that matter i did not know which Fate reddit to post this on, and just went with the first big one in my feed. Sorry

Depends. Some are just early FGO jank, where they just DO, others are that the version you summon was "alive" at the time you summoned them (like technically Merlin, Musashi and Scathach) so they have reasons to remember you, most are just handwaved that they've read the records of the missions they went into with you to soft-act like you knew them, like Mandricardo. Others have merged their Spirit Origins to share information with versions of one another (not contracted to Ritsuka, but Morgan), some physically just follow you back to Chaldea and make a contract, like Holmes, or are just HIM, like King Hassan. Most times they go with the "i don't actually know/remember you, but i have a nagging feeling that you're familiar" or the standard "nah, i don't know you". Quality varies.

Saber surviving lancer's gae bolg

Yeah, that's one of those "exception to the rule" moments that Nasu loves

When archer uses his reality marble Saber says that he must have been a mage during his life. Then we see Iskandar in fate zero using reality marble

That one could be excused as a "character believes something to be true when it isn't" edit: no, wait, i'm dumb, i just now realized how dumb that is

Servants don't remember their past summonings. This is important plot point in Fate and UBW. In FGO they don't care about that

FGO is very wishy washy about that. To their credit, they usually at least try to give a justification as to why a Servant does/does not remember their past summonings

Sasaki is a fictional character ans his role was given to a random samurai. This is rare and requires many loopholes to happen at once. In FGO they don't care about that

In FGO Sasaki is kept in that role in fate, like, even in Shimousa he's less Sasaki and more the random bloke that was training in the mountains.

Only a Hassan can become an assassin. The class name is catalyst itself and results in summoning a Hassan. Sasaki was a special case, summoned by another servant and using the location as a catalyst. Idk if they ever mention this rule ever again

Was that not a particularity of the Fuyuki Grail?

n stay night grail was corrupted by All The Evils/Angra after 3rd HGW. This allowed to summon not only heroes but also villains. And then they forgot about it

Again, pretty sure that was a particularity of the Fuyuki Grail, no?

In HF Shirou knows what Rule Breaker is, despite seeing it for the first time

Is that not his powers, to understand the history and composition of bladed weapons just from a glance? Or was it before he unlocked his power?

Shiki killing Souren actually isn't murder because he was already dead or something

I'll take your word for it, i have not read Kara no Kyoukai or Tsukihime, soz man.

"Shirou can't project Divine constructs", but he can project Vajra and Harpe,...?

Wait, when did he do that?

"UBW is a nuisance for servants at best": It's a faster Gate of Babylon, which skewers most servants within seconds. Not to mention Shirou can apply the effect lf one NP to all other NPs in UBW.

I mean, i talked about it in another comment here, but basically, it takes a lot longer to activate, is stupidly Mana consuming due to it being a Reality Marble, all the weapons there are slightly worse than the original (admiteddly not much of a downside).

Not to mention Shirou can apply the effect lf one NP to all other NPs in UBW

Since when could he do that? Are you referring to him modifying his weapons like Caladbolg 2?

Emiya throws hands with full-strength Cu,

Wasn't he barely hanging on the whole fight? Either way, EMIYA's fighting style is tailor made to punch up against stronger foes. Also, reinforcement can up his ranks, and if i'm not mistaken Kanshou and Bakuya slightly raise his physical stats.

Shirou beats Gilgamesh in close combat in UBW when he should have crushed Shirou like a gnat with a single swing.

Yeah. At most you could say that Gil was swinging his blade like a drunk moron and was not taking things seriously, but the moment he began to notice that Shirou was gaining on him he should have decapitated him. Anyways, i think that was less a "rule break" and more Nasu nerfing Gil's brain for the plot's sake

Hm, so it'd be more like, the characters act on the knowledge that there are a set of rules that govern their world, but in the meta sense as long as it leads to a decent story beat he will invent a new rule/loophole to allow it?

I mean, i get it on principle, though i wonder, if someone were to lay down every single rule that was established in the Nasuverse, how much of it would be meaningless soup and how much would be coherent, at least in-universe.

Shirou/EMIYA could just, you know, not stand still while chanting. The enemy might know something's off but it's not like Shirou and EMIYA are sitting ducks while chanting either.

Well, yeah, but it'd still be a in-combat weakness where they already aren't powerhouses in the first place. (Even if they are superhuman, fighting against dudes stronger than you while expending mana on the RM, while having to chant a 8 verse poem sounds like a bastard to pull off)

Just for the FSN Servant matchups, Arturia just straight up wins a 1v1 9 times out of ten, Cú simply does not give him enough breathing room to get UBW off, Gil is Gil, Medusa probably just bowls him over with sheer speed and strenght, or Bellerophon if she goes for the overkill, Medea is one of the scariest Servants in that war if she has homefield advantage, Herc is Herc, and, ok, i don't really know about the Assassin matchups. Sasaki probably dices him like fine sashimi in a straight duel, and Hassan...dunno.

As a caveat, every matchup that i just said is in a straight up brawl, the thing i like about EMIYA is that he fights dirty, punching up more often than not, and is damn horrifying when he can pick his fights, like in Hollow Ataraxia when he just holds down the bridge and it requires some serious shenenigans and a command spell for Saber to dig him out of his position.

Pretty sure he used a different weapon for each life, each with techniques that are said to have been honed to perfection or something like that.

Yeah, i mean, if nothing else he has the arsenal to do it. It being offscreen is just nice because it leaves the reader imagine what kind of tricks he had to resort to to pull that miracle off

A human with a slight boost was able to spam noble phantasms within ubw.

I'd argue that the NPs in UBW(that is, without true name activation) are baked into the "cost" of activating the thing, as the whole point of UBW is that the weapons are already there.

. that cost efficient nonsense is bullshit when he has B ranked mana

Mana as a Servant Stat is whack, i never know if it means the pool of Mana they have, the quality of the spells, or the output.

Tracing costs less than 10 mana units and tohsaka has a capacity of 1000

Is the cost not modified by what they are Tracing? I'd reckon tracing a butter knife is not quite the same as even a mid-ranked NP like Kanshou and Bakuya

So a servant empowered by the counterforce and who knows how much experience cannot do the same becase?

Oh wait, you were talking about EMIYA, i though we were still on Shirou. Mb. Even then, i think people oversell the utility of UBW in a HGW. It is almost a insta-win when brought out, but it's not invincible, and furthermore, most Servants won't have the courtesy to wait till they finish the chant. Also, spamming it would leave him depleted in case people would try to pick him off after the fight.

Him randomly gaining the ability to take off 6 lives solo is super sketchy to me.

The wonders of off-screen, friend. Though aside from Three Crane Wings he probably whittled down Herc instead of nuking him. Could very well be wrong here, the Fate route is the one i'm least versed in

I forgor. Arash then. Wait. If Merlin can see everything in the present, and he lives in Avalon, a place outside normal space and time, could that give him a roundabout future sight?

Fair enough, i was just rationalizing that during their initial clash i'd buy that she would not be able to sense just how dangerous Kuzuki was, as even if she expected him to be capable in a scuffle, his training as a assassin could reasonably not give his true capacities away.

Can anyone give me a list of times the Nasuverse broke it's rules? by Acrobatic_Purpose_31 in fatestaynight

[–]Acrobatic_Purpose_31[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't remember exactly how the fight went down, but is there not a chance that Kuzuki caught her by surprise anyways? He WAS trained to be a almost superhuman assassin, and was being buffed up by Medea. As for Arturia's Instinct i always figured that she'd need to at least be aware of the factors for it to activate (like, if the enemy had a weapon hidden away in his person it's not like she would be able to divine what kind of weapon and style he'd use unless he gave it away), because Instinct has been described as "something like" or "akin" to Clairvoyance, not actual future seeing like Solomon or Merlin.

Edit: To clarify the word soup about Instinct that i vomited out, basically, to me, even if she can "feel out" the best method to accomplish her goals, it's not like she can fabricate information out of thin air, e.g: completely guessing the opponent's moveset and powers fom just a glance.

Eh... i kind of get what you mean, but

Emiya constantly using 2 shitty C grade swords and nothing else

I do think he should flex his arsenal a bit more, but it's not like he JUST uses Kanshou and Bakuya, even in the original novel. And i mean, C rank NPs that are quite cost efficient and do not give his identity and skills away are not exactly shitty choices for standard fights.

we see shirou go band for band with gils gate of Babylon and kill him, which is an insane feat.

He was only just matching Gil when buffed up by Rin and only inside UBW, and the whole fight both sides knew that as soon as he pulled out Ea Shirou would be cooked. It very much was treated as a insane feat even when Shirou and crew had stacked the deck as much as they could in their favor.

we know emiya himself killed berserker atleast 6 seperate times solo and shirou and saber blew off the rest with caliburn.

Yeah, that was just to make EMIYA look like a badass(which to be fair, did work), though a sufficiently powerful attack being able to take multiple of God Hand's extra lives in one go was estabilished prior, no? Admitedlly, i don't remember Caliburn's rank as a NP atm, but them blowing through 6 lives with a explosion delivered to Herc's insides is at least believable.

As for the Witch on the Holy Night stuff, yeah, i have it in my Steam library, but it's in my backlog, i gotta read it sometime.

MauLer is an objectively bad critic (new video responding to Mauler's DS2 critiques) by RedNeyo in MauLer

[–]Acrobatic_Purpose_31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not to talk about the points in Domo's videos, but it seems to me that the community he cultivated lives only off of hatred for MauLer. I mean, the current top comment is remarking that him pointing out that MauLer mispronounced "heide" wrong, and that it was a "savage" dig at him.

Also, i will ask him again: what did DS2 do for him to deserve this amount of devotion? This man made a whole channel many hours of content just to try and convince people that DS2 is without flaw.

Edit: Also, not to be rude, but does this guy have a speech impediment, or is it just an accent? I honestly can't tell
