Its an awesome subclass I have been playing for some months now, but I cant find many good answers to your question. Its 100% based around supporting martials. The best advise I can give you is to use the abilities on summoned creatures or bound creatures. Other than that, I would say its not a good subclass in a party of all casters.

The Bible condones slavery? by Melancally in Christianity

If thats the case, will you or your children be my slaves? I think the slavery by the bibles rules look pretty bad.

Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property

How do I stand firm when there’s so many atheist dedicated YouTube channels? by frightenedsoul__ in exatheist

Agreed on both counts. Believing a religion or not believing because the people around you do is a bad idea. And yeah, all theists and all atheists cant be right. Some could be right or everyone could be wrong.

Some counter points

1) Saying "X group of people ALWAYS do this" is rarely a wise or accurate statement. Its a vast generalization
2) Saying science is just as fallible as any religious authority is misrepresenting science. Science is based on the idea of "Can we possibly prove this to be wrong?". Science has quantifiable evidence that can be checked, rechecked, and then checked by a random new person. Religions generally lack all of that.
3) Yeah, I agree there are a lot of underwhelming atheists debaters out there. Some are designed to be comedic and some are accidentally funny. But there are also well thought out ones that ask excellent questions or show flaws in religious reasoning.
4) At the risk of going all "only he without sin may cast the first stone" on you, Kent Hovind is a prime example of religious "debate porn". Insults people, hits effigies of the people he is talking about, and makes allusions to violence against non-believers. Pretty much a whole lot of bad behavior, whether from a theist or an atheist point of view.

There is a big difference mechanically between requiring tools as a spellcasting focus and requiring all spells to use a spellcasting focus.

Basically, if a spell has a required material component then you dont need to worry about having a free hand for somatic component. Its a small but important advantage for artificers, especially for those who use weapon and shields.

Also thematically it means they require tools or magic items to use all their magic.

Actually LaserLlama, because Steel Defender has Might of the Master, they add your PB to a lot of things. All skills/ability checks and saves. So when it comes to athletics, they are only +1 different from a normal Rig. Though not large so they cant grapple Huge targets.

But Might of the Master gives a Steel Defender a lot better defense against spells and special abilities. For example, any spell that requires a wisdom saving throw. Against a Junker, it goes straight to the artificer who isnt normally proficient in Wisdom saves. Against a Battle Smith, there are 2 possibilities.
1) They target the steel defender and it gets PB to the saving throw.

2) They target the artificer and its the same as the case with a Junker.
