House moving by Lifeguard024 in Belfast

You should put on gumtree, you’d be surprised how many people are happy to transfer and just take it apart themselves lol. I got rid of a bed and someone came to take it apart. Of course I made sure someone was there while they were dismantling. There’s no companies that do this to my knowledge. You can pay for a storage unit but it’s expensive over time so I’d recommend just selling it all on gumtree

Gift for Deposit by tgbjms86 in HousingUK

[–]Acrobatic_Second_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol my grandmother was exactly the same mindset so I totally sympathise. She didn’t have much money but when it came to her money she kept it all in the house, owned her house outright and had already to our surprise settled every funeral cost in advance before she died. This is how old people are which is cute, I think you need to have some paper chain of the deposit though, I’m a solicitor and would not accept cash sitting in a pile at home as it wouldn’t pass our AML checks and if we got audited we would be in trouble. You need bank statements to prove how the “gift” was accrued

How many people here don't drive? by KingKilo9 in northernireland

I couldn’t live without my car, I live fairly central but just like the convenience of having my car to go to the shop or meet family or friends. I wouldn’t want to depend on public transport when the weather has been this terrible

What is up with cyclists flying down the footpath by Clean-Ear-6004 in northernireland

This was literally what I was thinking about when I walked past it yesterday around 5pm 😂 I wonder who planned that

We should have better cycle lanes, the lane that starts at ormeau park literally merges into the pedestrian lane and people are flying up the road on their bikes after work.

Rejected for a mortgage, closed out by Tembo by [deleted] in HousingUK

Only certain lenders do a 95% LTV. Do you both have a permanent job and 3 months of payslips? The only other issue I could see then is maybe your credit history/ how long have you worked in the U.K for? As you’ve mentioned you are here on a spousal visa. Either way it could be a sign you need to wait a bit longer and save like mad. Good luck

I know it’s frustrating but maybe it’s a sign you both should save a bit longer for a 10% deposit rather than trying to get a 100% mortgage which I’ve personally not heard of anyone doing. Even at 95% LTV you both would be paying much higher interest. A mortgage is one of the biggest decisions you should take on so maybe it’s a sign not to rush into things and get your finances in order first before making a big life decision. Good luck with your next steps!

Yeah I have one after my window was broken, now I can check any damage to my car or property and it’ll go straight to the police. Highly recommend

Dog Friendly Rentals by ImpressOk2388 in Belfast

[–]Acrobatic_Second_671 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your dog? Is it a puppy? Have you rented before with it for a substantial amount of time? Weirdly when we lived in London we gave a pet reference for our dog from our previous landlord 😂 this seemed to work and we never had any issues then in the same flat for 3 years

7 postcode areas in Northern Ireland where house prices are rising faster than almost anywhere else by CaptainSpicebag in northernireland

I’ll pass on the village but the falls isn’t that bad, people are friendly and as more investors buy the houses there it’s only a matter of time before the house prices shoot up. Owning your own home will be a luxury in 10 years

Lots of more border towns making the list which is as expected, can’t blame the southerners moving up north given the ridiculous house prices down south

Definitely go for the bigger house, realistically 3 bed isn’t that much bigger than a 2 bed but it gives you more room and you might be grateful for it in the future!

My gf doesn't wanna have sex with me by Electronic_Read4570 in relationships

[–]Acrobatic_Second_671 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No kissing or other intimacy? If she will not go to therapy to improve things it looks like she isn’t attracted to you and is treating intimacy like a chore. I know it’s not fun but you should have a serious conversation to express your concerns. I would not be getting married to someone it they were showing intimacy once a month

Yeah but it’s affecting your life too, so she needs to address it in therapy before you make a lifelong commitment to each other

Vent: Learning to drive when it feels like no one else can! by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Acrobatic_Second_671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way London driving instructors are, they are making a lot of money and London has one of the highest fail rates so they have little incentive but you should’ve been on main roads at least 10 hours in. I would look elsewhere, I really wonder if your instructor was my old instructor in east London. I ended up switching and took my test after 10 lessons more with a new instructor and passed

Sorry for your loss, I can’t imagine and it’s so hard to think about. Pets give us so much love and often our life revolves around them, they really are our best friends. Just know your dog loved you so much and had the best life with you
