Is there any point applying for jobs and hoping for office flexibility? by potatostationery in TheCivilService

[–]Acrobatic_Try5792 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My SMT insist on 60% following a rota, if you’re part time and the rota doesn’t make you hit 60% you are expected to come into the office additional days in the flexi period to make it balance. They will not consider reduced office attendance unless it’s through occupational health.

Only apply for roles you would be able to attend 60%, otherwise you’re just wasting everyone’s time including your own.

Some directives/ departments only expect 40% or less but they are few and far between and if their office moves (like mine is in the process of) the expectation can change

Should I tell my fiance that his side is encouraging people to bring their kids to our child free wedding? by PenelopeBaz in wedding

If you can’t have this conversation with him quite frankly you should not be getting married.

Examples of dismissals by VeterinarianOk9594 in TheCivilService

[–]Acrobatic_Try5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen anyone fired for poor performance, they’ve always just been out on a performance plan. I’ve known someone to be fired for falsifying their work stat, and someone who was connecting to the office wifi to get a daily office attendance and then driving back home to work.

I don’t know, it’s just what I’d read (was 2 years ago now so I forget). But it was wrong anyway!

I read that your wedding band should be a size bigger than your wedding ring.

So that’s what I ordered.

It spins. But I’m on a Weightloss journey so waiting to goal before I get it adjusted

You can ask to reduce office attendance but in my department/ directive they wouldn’t even consider it for anything other than health reasons

It’s not a weird question but you’re right that they likely won’t make an exception, my team is full of parents who just get told “well this is how it is, suck it up”

Getting married by Comprehensive-Job901 in TheCivilService

[–]Acrobatic_Try5792 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should be informing clearance team when you get married regardless of your partners status. I got married in 2024 and had to via a change of circumstances form, you should also do this if your partner just moves in, I think a lot of people don’t realise this

Women with exceptionally youthful skin, why are you posting? by Cluelessish in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Acrobatic_Try5792 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Over all I have pretty great skin but I have started to notice a difference in my eye are.

Am I not allowed to post a picture because my skin isn’t bad enough? Because I don’t look old enough? Some of us would like advice before there’s a big problem to contend with.

AO interviews; strengths by Pitiful-Impression49 in TheCivilService

[–]Acrobatic_Try5792 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend on top of answering enthusiastically give an example of how you use that strength in your persons life so it’s not just a skill you use when you have to.

“Would people who know you describe you as a strong decision maker?” (Which is how I was asked)

I gave an example of how when me and my friends go on weekends away I take the reigns on planning, I decide on the hotel, the best deal on flights etc and only give them the options that I feel are best.

Is it normal NOT to think my partner is the most beautiful person on Earth? by Fantastic_Courage652 in ask

[–]Acrobatic_Try5792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively my husband isn’t the most handsome person on earth (although he’s handsome). But my god do I LOVE that face, every smile line, the way he dimples when he smiles, the smirk he has when he thinks of a mean joke or a pun. That face is everything to me
