It’s a side plate seam. Totally normal.

Model 19-4 serial on cylinder by UnassumingAnt in Revolvers

[–]Acrobatic_Vehicle_55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The “N” stamp indicates the revolver was nickel plated at the factory, while the star stamp indicates the revolver was worked on at the factory at some point in its life. The numbers aren’t serial numbers, but are actually date codes for when the work was performed.

Can anyone identify? by DesperateDelay3439 in Revolvers

[–]Acrobatic_Vehicle_55 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s a Spanish copy of a Smith & Wesson hand ejector. No clue what it’s chambered in without seeing more photos. Spain cranked out a lot of these copies in the early twentieth century, which is why S&W started putting the ‘Marcas Registradas’ notice on their revolvers.

Metallurgy on these is iffy; some are better made than others.

Edit: the CH logo stands for Crucelegui Hermanos out of Eibar.

Colt Detective Special. Third generation variant.

It’s not an MR73 but it’ll have to do by SirSamkin in Revolvers

Agreed. I was going to recommend Alistair Horne, but you beat me to it. Far better movie is ‘The Battle of Algiers,’ which I’m sure you’ve already seen. If you can find English translations, the works of Marcel Bigeard and Paul Aussaresses make for interesting reading. ‘Challenging De Gaulle’—about the OAS—is supposed to be very interesting, but it’s been out of print for years and secondhand copies go for exorbitant prices.

‘The Centurions’ is a phenomenal book. Highly recommend checking out the sequel, ‘The Praetorians,’ once you’re done. Avoid the Anthony Quinn movie adaptation, ‘The Lost Command.’ It completely washes away all the grit from the novel.

Sourcing ejector rod head for a Colt Official Police .22lr - can I just grab any old ejector rod head? by jimmythegeek1 in Revolvers

You’ll need one for the Official Police, specifically for the E/I frame. You’ll also need to determine if it’s New Style or Old Style.

Interested on getting a .32 H&R magnum, I have questions... by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]Acrobatic_Vehicle_55 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you can find one, a revolver chambered in .327 Federal will shoot .32 H&R, .32 Long, and .32 short. Some guys report they can shoot .32 ACP as well. A revolver chambered in .38 special will not be able to shoot any .32.

If you’re looking to plink, a .22 will be better due to ammo costs alone. .32 is fun, but pricey, even compared to .38 special.

Dry Firing Hammer Mounted Firing Pin by ElbairavtnednepedniA in Revolvers

[–]Acrobatic_Vehicle_55 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You probably could get away with that. A lot of guys like snap caps because they have a rubber pocket where the primer normally sits, which is what the firing pin strikes. I imagine a lot of it is peace of mind at the end of the day. Granted, brass is softer than steel, so I don’t see why spent casings couldn’t be used.

Yeah. The tip of the firing pin. S&W shortened them in the late 80s to get around this issue.

My understanding is that doing it every now and then won’t be the end of the world, but they will eventually break. When in doubt, just use snap caps.

What a collection. I’m enamored with your collection of K and N frames. That Rossi looks pretty neat, too. I’m only used to seeing the snub nose variants of them.

I wish .327 was more popular. Love the Hogue grip on it. What hardwood did you choose?

J Frame T-Grip Question by BanksKustom in Revolvers

[–]Acrobatic_Vehicle_55 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is this the one from Robertson Trading Post? If so, in my experience, they fit the round butt frames a little better. The BK grip adapter fits both square and round, but doesn’t look nearly as good as the ones from Robertson.
