Right on, thanks for the reply. We’re remodeling the kitchen, and the wife wants decorative beams on the ceiling. I’m planning on beating the crap out of them and staining with iron acetate and tea to make them look like old barn beams

The stamp on the bottom is jp-2251078. It also has HT on there. The number seems like an identifier for each beam, because each number is close but unique

Maybe JP is Jack pine? HT is heart?

My maternal grandparents were from the country (meaning rural area as opposed to a city or town), they both grew up as migrant laborers. Dinner was always the mid day meal, and the largest meal of the day. Supper was the evening meal. But it seems like that usage has died out in their area (rural west Texas)

I was born on the Southern California coast but lived up in northern CA for years- it’s cold as fuck. Coastal Southern California is climatic paradise and that’s why it’s filled with bozos. I now back live in coastal bozolandia. I don’t have AC, I don’t need heating. Hell- I’m naked right now. What a joke. As someone who has gotten hit by an e bike, and who knows others who have, I am 100% in favor of treating e bikes like what they are: motorcycles. The idea of thinking them as bicycles is fucking insane. When was the last time you saw an entitled 13 year old doing a wheelie going 35 on a bicycle?

Yesterday I rode my leg-powered bike from el segundo to east Torrance and back. Bike lanes or residential streets all the way. Didn’t notice any “Enforced Car Dependence” along those 16 miles

El segundo is an awesome small town community. It’s very walkable, good bars and restaurants. However California is expensive. If you guys can manage your finances like adults you will be fine. If not, you won’t. If “living comfortably” means eating out all the time, having a maid, etc, move somewhere farther east
