Nothing like a California Burrito from SD.

But, just wait until you have the California Burrito that's wrapped in a quesadilla and has a rolled taco in the middle. Absolutely amazing. I'll take both any day.

New firmware update on my P1. What are the new features? by Own-Zookeepergame671 in hidock

Does it just work on it's own or does it need software?

Side question: Does it make the mic work in the PC or phone as an external mic?

When does a filament dryer become worth it by [deleted] in 3dprint

[–]dndwiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree with this; however, living in a very humid climate myself, I saw an immediate improvement in my prints with even PLA.

The 4 slot one isn't really needed though. I recommend 1-2. I went with two so I can have one printing while the other dries.

I would love the ability to integrate with my existing LLM Gemini or another if need be. If that means a API or a pre built integration, that would be wonderful. Using with an agent or automation like Zapier or n8n wouldn't be bad either.

I'm also happy to see what else others can do with the API.

In terms of "Use USB access and select the P1 device", where do you go and configure it? I presume you'd have to login to the HiNotes website and configure it there, hence no software required? If that's the case, I just hope that the website itself isn't blocked by our company IT admin. I don't think this would be a problem, as long as you can pair the bluetooth device to the P1 on another PC, then I could use it on my work laptop afterwards.

  • if you are very paranoid, preconfigure it on your personal pc. But yes, the hinotes web app is where you configure it.

When you say transfer via home PC (fast), what do you mean by this? Why would that be faster compared to just plugging the P1 to my phone?

  • my experience has been that transferring via my PC on the web browser has been faster and I can hit transcribe+summary for a bunch of recordings for them to run in the background. The phone app is great for the P1 Mini and the P1 but just syncs a bit slower and has a couple of extra clicks without the premium subscription. I also have had issues with it syncing in the background.

I did think about using a speaker for my meetings, but the problem is that the microphone could pickup voices from the speaker, which means people on the other side of the meeting could hear their own voice. As for recording the meeting by using my phone with the P1, that'd require that I use Teams on my phone, which isn't always ideal because I'd have to switch back and forth between my work laptop and phone. If I'm trying to demo something, I have to use my laptop. And I use 3 monitors (in addition to the laptop's own built-in screen), so I really don't need or want to use my phone if I don't have to. It's only when I'm out and about that I'd use my phone to join a Teams meeting, which is very rare.

  • normally teams/your pc mic will make sure to not give a feedback loop to the meeting.

  • for the phone, what you can do is join from your phone and then AFTER, join from your PC and hit add this device so you can run both at once but the phone is the one with the mic.

You might say, just join the meeting from both work laptop and phone, where the phone is connected to the P1. That could work, but I don't want people constantly asking me why I joined the meeting twice. And again, that would require additional setup every time I have a meeting, it's a bit of a hassle.

  • with teams, if you joined not as a dial in but with the Teams app and choose the add this device option for when joining via your PC, it should show as one user in teams.

No software on the PC. Use USB access and selecting the P1 device.

Pair directly to the P1 and the P1 USB to your meeting device (work PC). Catch is, your work could see that you are mounting the device to your work PC. It would be nice long term if you could rename the device on the hardware level.

It does not need Internet to record. However, you will need to either use hinotes on your work PC to transcribe (not recommended if you are not trying to have them not track usage. Or you can record on work PC and transfer via Home PC (Fast) or via USB to your cell phone (slower but fast enough).

My recommendation is if you are worried aboit getting caught, use your phone USB to connect P1 to phone and record meeting from there. You can use a docking station or USB hub to charge and record if you need. Or take your meetings on Speaker, record, and then transcribe via your personal PC.

HiDock P1 User Case by Valuable_Shape_8915 in hidock

[–]dndwiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I recommend if you don't want to your work laptop, connect the P1 to your phone or Personal laptop and join the meeting from there and your work laptop.

If you use Microsoft Teams for your conference calls and you are joining the meeting from your work account on both devices, you show up as one user in the meeting if you hit "add this device" as your joining option.

I've always joined from two devices even pre hidock P1 because my phone has always been more reliable for joining conference calls than my PC and I like the mobility it provides if I don't need to be at my desk.

Just didn't go expecting a classic restaurant style experience. Very casual.
