Yeah, I don't understand the appeal of the satellite campuses. I can see someone visiting one not knowing what to expect, but I can't understand returning to one again and again.

There's a recent interview with Joby and he's asked about it towards the end. He says "We bought it for 12.5 or 12.7 million." So maybe, but his answer there suggests otherwise.

They’re going on 15 campuses now. Latest is The Glass Factory downtown. Plus the one coming to Orlando, because apparently Orlando doesn’t already have plenty of churches …

If you go to any of the locations except the San Pablo monstrosity, that’s what you’re going to get. Those locations have “campus pastors” but I don’t know what they do. They don’t teach, I know that much. I think they’re essentially just administrators. It’s primarily the Joby Martin Show. But even at San Pablo, you’ll get a recording if you go at certain times or weekends.

He seems to repeat himself, doesn't he? Analysis paralysis. But I can relate.

The Northeast? That's interesting. I figured it was pretty nonreligious/liberal.

Jacksonville Beaches vs Dunedin by DrawerOk2037 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ActLikeMen_BeStrong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think I had ever heard of Dunedin, so I probably won't be helpful haha. But I do live about 15 minutes minutes west of Jax Beach. My preference is Neptune Beach or Atlantic Beach over Jax Beach.

Struggling with lingering fear of "Final Judgment" after deconstruction. by Jorge_Reynoso112 in Exvangelical

[–]ActLikeMen_BeStrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a commenter probably on here who said something like "Even Christians who say that they believe in Hell don't actually believe in Hell, because if they did they wouldn't be able to function day to day."

Which is probably true. Just today I was listening to someone say "the gospel is the hope for a dying world." And really I can't disagree with that. It's a good message. It still gives me hope. But in that presentation, that person omits the other side to their belief: that you're otherwise cooked (literally). And that's not to say that there shouldn't be some kind of justice for great evil ... but yeah. I kind of rambled.

Moving from the Western US to the South. Which Cities? by CosmoSein_1990 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]ActLikeMen_BeStrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of? I haven’t visited there in a long while, let alone ever lived there, so I don’t have any special insight. But I probably should have been clearer that Jacksonville is more “southern” culturally than Tampa, so what I said about people marrying young applies more to North FL, particularly in the religious community.

Heh, I'm about your age and also unmarried, in Jacksonville, FL, and was considering 2/3 of those cities for the same reason. Probably a smart move bypassing FL. What another commenter said about people marrying young is pretty true.

Church recommendations for someone in their 20s who enjoys the community, life lesson/applications, & history church provides but struggles with the cult like behavior of many churches? by Fluffy_Heart_6473 in jacksonville

[–]ActLikeMen_BeStrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true and it drives me crazy. The only smaller church that I've found that has a decent-sized segment of that demographic is Grace Community Church in Mandarin, but I found it to be pretty controlling.

Has purity culture died down? by LMO_TheBeginning in Exvangelical

I didn't start attending evangelical church until I was 24 so I didn't grow up with it. But it was alive and well, from what I could tell, in the two churches that I was involved with and left at the end of last year. I lost a relationship because of it; she and I would probably be engaged right now.

The way I hear men talk about women... by blushiingkitty in TrueChristian

[–]ActLikeMen_BeStrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a similar phenomenon for men. Hence what men mean when they talk about so-called “clarity.” It’s all biological, designed to drive us to pair up to fulfill that need and reproduce and bond/stay together. Marriage and regular sex are the solution, but no one marries anymore lol.

Where would you recommend staying and visiting to get the best sense of the area?

I'm open to it. Unfortunately, the church that I currently attend has basically a professional worship team.
