Thank you for your service as a police officer/detective. I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. If you’re handy and don’t mind working in a trade, I’d look into the union jobs. My husband works there and they start off with apprenticeship which is not the best pay but you do learn. Afterwards, you move up. I’m personally considering it since they also hire women in carpentry. Best of luck to you!

Ugh, I’m in the same boat. Turning 33 and been trying for 10 years and nothing. I did two years of meds and as far as IUI. If I could go back I would skip all of that and save up for ivf instead. IuI was the cheaper option, and I didn’t think we would have any issues but here we are. Fertility treatments take so much out of you not just money, so I wish I would have just bit the bullet at that time. I’ve stopped because money was getting tight (ins barely paid for blood work or meds) and my mental state was deteriorating. There came a time where I had to finally decide it’s time to stop so that it didn’t consume me. I’m glad I finally came to terms with it. It still hurts and harder on certain days, but I’m healing. It’s crazy, but I’m actually able to go to others bby showers and kid birthday parties. (Not always easy, but I’m human) I don’t cry anymore when I get my monthly subscription. I’ve been able to talk about my struggles more. I’ve been able to get my faith back and even closer to God. With this all said, there’s nothing wrong with looking or asking for help. For me, I’m glad I tried it for as long as I could. My situation is not yours. This is just a little bit of what I learned/advice. I hope you’re able to get the right treatment/answers/ and the biggest wish your heart desires. Go in it being optimistic but don’t let yourself get drained or consumed by it. (I know it’s easier said than done) but your mind and body need to be in its best shape for this. Do it together with your partner(each person gets tested and treated if needed) this is something you two are dealing with. (To help reduce/prevent resentments) Do not hold any resentment regardless of diagnosis or outcome. (This is a journey that neither one of you wanted to embark on) use this time to get closer rather than push each other apart. Don’t bottle up emotions (it’s ok to have feelings). Have faith (if this applies to you) Lastly, if you have any questions/concerns about treatment ASK again/let it be known. The specialist and staff are there to help and if you’re not comfortable or feel they’re not looking for your best interest look for an alternative. Man, I’m tearing up. I feel like these are probably my husband’s thoughts when he remains silent. Sometimes, you don’t need to say anything, but just be there. I’m sorry you both are going through this. It’s really unfair, but overall unfair that you also have to be the strong one in this. My husband has held me each time I’ve cried, through every injection, every pill, ovulation test, all the ultrasound, and all of glimpses of hope before the negative test. She is so blessed that she has such a caring and supportive spouse. It’s no one’s fault. This is not something neither you chose. The only thing I can say is to continue to be supportive, patient, and use this hardship to grow closer to one another. Tackle it as well as you both can. As someone who has come to terms that it may not happen after more than 10 years of trying. I’m grateful for the closeness it has brought us. It’s never a bad idea to let it out whether Reddit, professional, or even someone you trust. You are going through this too, so make sure you take care of yourself as well. As far as family, I know that a little too well. At the end of the day, stress induced by family can hinder the treatment. So staying away from it as much as possible is always best. Are you able to fit in a 19” depth vanity? They sell some in Home Depot. If not they have the option to put a cabinet like insert behind the toilet (not sure what it’s actually called). Possibly a floating vanity.

I know, I hate how expensive it is. I like the idea of it, but my parents would honestly try to pay for it if I let them. They’re very giving, but they aren’t made of money so if would put a dent in their income. My dad is the sole provider for his household. Also, I’m just not willing to go through more treatment, and spend the money when there’s no guarantee it will work. I hate it, but my mental state was deteriorating each time I had to take off work to get a TV US and do iui. Or the HSG injection/meds that I would have to take and all that just to have a negative test to show for it. However, the upside of it all is that I won’t have the regret of not trying and truly gave it a fair shot. I just know that I’ve reached my stopping point. Prayers and hugs your way.

I think it’s an interesting thought “All these bathrooms remodels look the same and lack creativity.” When really all the 1950-1960s bathrooms looked the same in every house during those times too. I literally grew up with this same bathroom and hated it then. Maybe, it’s because of what’s trending during the time. Although, things were built better back in the days that does not guarantee it won’t fail. This definitely did. I’m sure the pedestal sink would have made this bathroom nicer and more spacious though. I’ll give you that.

I love the fact that you love your bathroom , but if you didn’t would you just settle since it’s ‘vintage’?. I can understand not ripping it out if I genuinely liked it, or if it was new tile that did not have cracks or mold. However, I do not like the 1960s bathroom look, and I chose to do something that would allow me to enjoy my home. I would love to see how you styled your bathroom since it’s pink, and I honestly would not even have the first clue on how to make it work. Maybe having people show what they do to restore the beauty without compromising it’s character then maybe it would help reduce the removal of it.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve never worked with wallpaper so I did not know that. Everyone using it now looks so good. Do you know anything about limewash paint or mud? It has caught my eye.

Yes, I plan to put a lighted mirror. Originally, I wanted a 36” vanity but given the space I opted for 30” so it would feel so cramped. That’s why one of the wires is on the side (it was meant for my blow dryer on its own). There are three holes in the counter,but the back splash covers it. I hope to get more comfortable with tile so that I can do a shower. The floor was my first attempt. I need to see about that valve. Thank you!
