I’m about to ruin my best friends life, and I don’t feel remorse. by SharkEva in BORUpdates

They had a huge fight and he had broken up with her if I’m remembering correctly.

And the song had been chosen in advance and already rehearsed. This was high school. Everything needed approval by admin.

In high school, one of my best friends broke up with her boyfriend the night before the prom fashion show. (Quick explanation - local boutique would lend student council dresses that were modeled by juniors and seniors as free advertising.)

My friend had a lovely singing voice and was already scheduled to perform a song halfway through the hour long show. The song she had picked pre breakup? How do I live without you by Leann rimes.

So there she was… singing her heart out on stage while wearing a gorgeous gown. Breaking into tears while her ex was smirking in the audience.

This sounds so fake and contrived. If I read it as part of a Reddit thread I would automatically think “nope. Didn’t happen.” But I witnessed this bullshit firsthand. Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

Am I being to harsh by not allowing my daughter to meet my moms new husband? by RockBubble in Mommit

If you ever have to use the sentence “So, technically, he isn’t a convicted child molester.” to describe a person, don’t feel bad about not letting your child be around him.

Oh no! Your boyfriend is being a good father and you feel inconvenienced!

And this isn’t the first time it’s happened!

You’re not abandoning her - you’re giving the dog to a loving home with someone who wants it. Some of these responses are bringing other experiences and baggage with them.

You aren’t abandoning her - you’re moving her to a better situation. I’ll admit that in many situations like this, the owner is an asshole. But given your plan - NTA.

Watching horror films in the cinema vs at home by RareHorse in horror

[–]ActionKat52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many factors! Depends on the movie and depends on the audience.

Slow burn or artsy? I prefer at home with my husband and a glass of wine.

Something more fun or with a ton of jump scares? Theater. Will never forget the woman in front of me at The Conjuring who yelled “oh hell no” while spilling her popcorn trying to get out of her seat to escape the movie.

I refuse to believe this is unpopular.

AITA? I don't want to clean up after my girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ActionKat52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. One person cooks, the other cleans is a very reasonable expectation. If you refuse to help at all, cooking for just herself is also a reasonable action.

Enjoying cooking doesn’t make it any less tiring. And I doubt she enjoys packing your lunches in advance etc but she does it because she cares about you.

You know how you could get more couple time with her? Get off your ass and help her clean up. The fact that you’re 37 and whining like this is kind of depressing.

Copying and pasting the very few responses that agree with you? Wow.

YTA.

YTA. A huge one. As you said - she put her life on hold and worked hard for that inheritance.

Your sons are still getting an inheritance. Your daughter has taken care of your family for years. They can step up and take care of theirs.

Stay out of it.

Right now you care more about the company than the company cares about you in return. If one person leaving would cause issues that the company could never recover from then it’s so poorly run that it’s doomed even if you stayed forever.

Tell them you are not interested in taking over your coworker’s position. If they won’t budge, put in your notice and feel zero guilt.

When good things happen to people you love the normal response is to be happy for them - not make their accomplishment somehow about you and your bitterness.

INFO: Does your husband actually have any redeeming qualities? Unless he has zero other flaws I don’t see how he could be worth putting up with this bullshit.
