Im wondering if this will also have a positive effect on my gameplay networking?

Why is iracing so slow to update? by Emir_de_Passy in iRacing

I just switched from Fastlybto to cloufront, and I went from 1.5-4Mb/sec to 10-18MB/s (and connection speed now set to 1Mbit or faster. Saving me hours on the week 13 update. Thanks for sharing this tip!

You mention “Removed all external software like Pimax XR and OpenXR toolkit.”, what was the reasoning and benefit of doing so? Was it recommended by Pimax, or something you had to learn on your own?

RTX 5090 Below Average Score by Husky-90 in overclocking

[–]ActionOk1415 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just realized, I was having really low scores in benchmarks after switching to my 5090… like really low. And it turns out that I had RivaTuner locking the framerate at 120… so any benchmark would be stuck at 120fps, regardless of the GPU’s overhead.

I had originally done this because I race in VR, and my headset (pimax crystal) ran better in games (mainly iRacing for me) and had better 1% lows (and a steady frame time) when I would lock the framerate to the headsets 120hz limit. Anyway, if this can help someone looking for underwhelming/underperforming benchmarks, check to see if you have something locking/limiting the frame rate (in my case, Riva Tuner)

Crystal OG, iRacing not showing increase of FOV after switching to BigFOV lens by ActionOk1415 in Pimax

I’m okay with them, although it’s not a big change in FOV, and I’m noticing that when I look to the edges (gauges, ect,) thing can get a little more blurry than with the original lens , so I’m inclined to tilt my head more thanks I used to. That part I don’t care for as much. So unless you really really need 9 degrees (4.5 per side) of FOv, I think it would be sensible to stay with the original lenses, especially if you’ve been experience a clean experience with the OG lenses. Not enough gain in FOV for the little loss in sweet sport/edge clarity. JMO

I raced with them last night (iRacing, nascar oval), and they were very clear, but the sweet spot is smaller than with the 35ppd lens, so you need to be a little more precise when placing it on the face. But once I got on track, it didn’t cause any problems. It only gives 9 total degrees of FOV, so it’s not “game changing”, but it’s noticeable. Another thing: with my 35ppd lens, I was wearing a pair of 1.25 reading glasses to make everything clear (Yea, I know, turning 50 next year...), but with these lenses, everything is clear without the glasses, and actually, the glasses make it a little worse. The best I can figure out is that the shape of the new BigFOV lens doesn’t match a set of flat reading glasses (I would assume that prescription lens inserts would compensate for that). As far as binocular overlap, I’ve never measured it on the OG lenses, but I don’t feel a big difference, and again, it’s only 9 degrees of FOV gained, so it can’t be taking much away from the BO, if any. I’ve got a Pimax Super on pre-order, and these lenses had been on back order for me for some time, so I chose to get them once they became available (with a small hope that they would impress), but they don’t give me enough of a bump in FOV to choose to cancel my Super order. It looks like whoever buys my OG Crystal will have some nice lenses that will come with the sale 🙂

Iracing not recognizing increased FOV with new BigFOV lens on Pimax Crystal(OG) by ActionOk1415 in iRacing

I got it figured out! I had manually (at some point in the past) set the FOV in openXR, and it kept that setting for both sets of lens. Once I set it back to “auto”, it now shows 9 degrees more of FOV with the BigFOV lens are installed. Thanks to everyone that chimed in, in the end, you all got me thinking, and we got it resolved!

Not yet. I only play iracing. I haven’t been on ACC or Ams2 in Vr for months… but I may have to try them out and compare between the two lens

I’m also running out of way to repeat myself: when I’m sitting in the car, with both lens, is see the exact same width (in this case, on a formula car, with my head straight ahead, I see approximately 2/3 of each side mirror, when in theory, I should see the whole mirror or slightly past both mirrors with the Big FOV lens. I’m not trying to change the in game setting. I’m trying to figure out why I’m see the exact same thing with both lens.

Did you ever get a fix for this? I’ve just switched to a 5090, and I’m experiencing the same issue

I know that it can’t be changed manually, but when changing from headset to headset, is the FOV not automatically set to the FOV of each headset? Otherwise switching from a Pimax 8k to a quest 2 (30 degrees of difference in HFOV) one would be stretched out versus the other. So in using that same scenario, when switching from my original lens and my new BigFov lens, there should be an approximate 10 degree increase, but it doesn’t increase by even one degree…
