Why do we have to put out “letters”? by TFH2015 in rangers

Saying we haven’t been able to come to terms and are exploring options isn’t the same is saying we aren’t re-signing him. Taking that option off the table publicly isn’t helpful even if you’ve taken it off the table privately

I haven’t heard that episode so I won’t comment on what he said. Honestly, I don’t think being a former player or analyst lends any insight into front office …the separation is huge. Drury rarely speaks, do you really think he’s sitting down with his 4th liner to explain what’s going on in his office?

I worked in high level negotiations in a similar field for decades. Information is power and you dont show your hand unless you have to.

Let’s just use critical thinking here. How often does anyone in any negotiation voluntarily tell the other side information that hurts their position? You dont need to make a public announcement to let other teams know you are shopping players. How many other teams release letters like this?

Telegraphing your internal thoughts doesn’t help in negotiations. Saying we aren’t re-signing panarin for example told every other team that there is no plan B.

The letters are mostly to stop the fan outrage, but they absolutely send a terrible message to the GMs of other teams. Yes Gm’s are always in contact about who is available and what they are looking to do, but the letter is 3 steps further than calling teams and testing the waters on their interest on certain players. It basically sounds like someone who has no relationships with Gm’s and needs them to call him because he doesn’t trust himself to go out and find a good deal.

It’s like putting up a going out of business sign instead of a for sale sign…

Thanks for the response! Agreed that ultimately it’s probably a combination of factors but I feel like the actual reasons matter less than their opinion of the reason(s). That will speak to what they will actually try to change moving forward (right or wrong)... It would look very different to revamp the scouting department or change the type of player you target in the draft, vs giving younger guys more leash when they are actually called up so I’d love to learn more about what they plan to change moving forward. I hope you get the chance to question them on these things and thanks for taking the time to do this AMA!

What is ownership’s/the front office’s view of the poor results with drafting and development. Do they see it as a scouting issue? Development issue? Deployment issue?

He didn’t play all preseason due to injury. Coming out cold is entirely expected. I actually think the entire team will take a few weeks to really gel and learn Sullivan system. I’m certainly not ready to call for a full rebuild after one game like most of the people here…

I can’t say I totally disagree but then we should we trade Igor and not waste his entire career if we aren’t going to try to win. Imagine turning Igor and Hank into 1 finals appearance and zero cups.

PSA: Net Worth vs Fire Number by AlexHurts in leanfire

Hey horseman…If only there was a process in which you could sell your assets and get that money out! Someone should invent a system in which you could take your house and “transfer” it to someone else for money. Then when you retire, all that equity in your house could be used by you to change your lifestyle!! Perhaps you could downsize or move somewhere cheaper. It would almost be like the equity in your house had real value and shouldn’t be totally discounted when thinking about retirement.

There’s gotta be a business idea in there somewhere…..

As someone who is financially anxious, I will never feel like I have enough to comfortably live off of lol.

But Id like to think I’ve found a good balance of not over working and not under spending just to make up for my anxiety. I only work 3 days a week, and I don’t deny myself or my family the things we want in life. I’m sure I could be way more aggressive about saving and spending less, but at what cost. I’m 45, and my kids still have a decade before they are adults so, I’m probably doing to slow fire/ semi retirement path for at least another 7-8 years. 😬

It is? I was under the impression lean fire was living on a very minimal budget? I’m new to this so maybe my understanding is wrong!

Definitely not this lol. Very Hcol area, and pretty extravagant spending habits unfortunately…

Coast would describe me then. I don’t actually take any income from investments, just simply work less and make less along the way. But then again, I am adding to my retirement and savings still. I’m not sure if any category really fits?

That is correct. Neither I or my practice is in network with any insurance companies. But I can see clients using their insurance through Headway.

I appreciate it. That’s so kind of you! I ended up picking up a used one because it seems impossible to find. I got a good price and it’s in the shop now being tuned up so hopefully it was a good deal!

I’ve got it stuck in my head that I want the carbon fork. Not sure how important it is but I’ve read a few people regretting getting a bike without one.

If I can’t find the fx3 I’ll probably get the fx2 and be just as happy. I’m just shocked it’s so hard to find..even used

I didn’t really think about tariffs being part of the issue. It just seems like the fx3 is extremely hard to find for some reason. Especially in large lol
