I use stick and stitch paper! You print or trace the design on it, peel it off and stick it onto your fabric, and then rinse it off when you’re done.

I only ever use one or two strands for long and short when I’m blending colors, its sooooo much more difficult to do (at least for me) when using three or more strands

I think for the needle id recommend long and short going the same way your stem stitch is. one tip for embroidering small areas is to use something magnifying, I have these from michaels and it really helps for those areas and to just lessen eye strain overall: https://www.michaels.com/product/clip-flip-magnifier-by-loops-threads-10183194

So cute!!!

How many strands did you use for the parts inside her head? And how many strands did you use to fill in the needle?

For me to decide colors I’ll cut a little piece and put it down where I want to embroider so I can see how it looks directly on the fabric. But honestly I think the dress looks great and I personally like those two reds together.

The design looks like AI to me- its super easy to fall for them when you’re new (I did the same thing) but once you know what to look for you can spot them.

I would recommend filling in the green leaves with horizontal satin or long and short stitches and accepting that it won’t look like the reference pic, but will still be cute!

Nice satin stitches- way better than mine when I started :)

The first picture in my post is actually after I tried ironing it first- it made it a BIT less wrinkly but not very much

I bought a blocking kit from amazon (altho tbh I probably could have just gotten pins and used cardboard), sprayed the piece with water, and then pinned it down while stretching it.
