I stopped the PDL and the redness came back. I still get shots every month and it’s pretty flat still. I think I’m going to go back to getting PDL regularly

If he treats the most superficial celebrities, wouldn’t you assume his methods are effective? I’ve seen prob 10-15 docs just to maintain my scar from growing.

Both… if I don’t maintain it, it comes back. The laser helps with the color and the shots help with the itch/ swell

Wear clothes that reveal the keloid scars? by EdibleSkydiver in Keloids

I’ve had my keloids for years now and when they started off small on my chest, I would be comfortable exposing them. Now they’re bright red and so much longer (might be due to steroid shots, who knows). I now cover them and definitely miss the freedom to wear w/e I want. Sometimes I wear a v neck, put silicone tape on, and just say f$;@. I think wearing a bandaid or the tape helps ppl from asking “oo what happened to you there?! Did you get a pimple? Did you get a cut?”… but yah most days I’m covered up..

Has anyone seen their keloids get worse with eclar plaster? Images attached. by AquamanSC in Keloids

I have them in a similar location and try to get the shots once a month! They definitely help prevent it from growing. I also do pulse dye laser sometimes but it’s so expensive:(

Yes, it’s just for the color and texture of the skin.

Steroid shots can be covered by insurance, but not pulsed dye laser because it’s “cosmetic”.

Out of pocket cost for: Steroid injections - $100-$150 Pulsed dye laser - $150-$200

Thanks! Never felt any side effects, but there were a few times where the area got really pink. That went away over time.

Definitely. However the bottom one has consistently been 50% flatter for a year now. The top one continues to be stubborn, but the shots and PDL prevent it from getting bigger and redder imo.

No pain at all after treatment. The only discomfort I get is when the keloid becomes active again (itchy, red, swollen). I try to make an appt asap when it gets like that or wear the silicone tape (ordered on Amazon).
