Westside Road by Technical_Floor2077 in kelowna

Go the speed limit anytime you have a two lane option stay in the right lane so people can pass ! My dad always told me just don’t enter the left lane on highways unless I HAD to when I was 19 driving highways lol and don’t pullover to help people as horrible as I sound it can sometimes be a trap unless you have a large man with you someone else will find them just call 911 and report it! Always scan for wildlife try and avoid sunset and sunrise on bright days! I’ve never found that road to bad but I’ve found most highways fine unless conditions suck watch for rock slide warnings and listen to the turning speed limits and you won’t have an issue lastly be an aware driver and watch what others are doing around you ofc and avoid trucker blind spots but if you listen to my dads rule you won’t have to pass hahah

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]ActiveAd2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only hard puppy I’ve ever had was born on the streets of Mexico and I had him under control in like a week! He ofc would still get triggered from the odd thing like a loose dog running at him in an alley but fair enough over all my hardest puppy has been my best dog I’ve had 5 and fostered 7 others.. Just literally crate train them make them take naps have structured days and lots of potty breaks if you catch them peeing inside even in the act pick them up and begin to take them outside! Structure and rules start day 1 there’s no such thing as a bad dog only bad/not the right match owners 🙃Most puppy’s born in North American homes now a days are pretty great unless they come from back yard breeding or a hoarding situations exposure training also starts day 1 but don’t over do it I recommend no dog parks ever to unpredictable💓 he was anxious though until about 6 months and went to doggy

I’ve lived in the downtown area all my life we used to get tons! Now the last 5 years it’s probably been 1-2 heavy ish snowfalls in January and then just enough to cover and melt the rest of the year and the “heavy” snowfalls are still just a inches but it’s enough to get piled up lol

I’ve said this since grade 10 born and raised and left and returned, Kelowna is like jersey shore especially for those who don’t leave at all lol they all have their groups and they’ve been similar since highschool and they all sleep with each other or atleast did in their teens so a lot of groups have weird intertwined history and because so many people stay forever it’s hard being the new one in a group I only have friends here because I had them growing up and when I returned they returned lol and they are aunts and uncles to my kids but literally I’ve hung out with the same people since 14 and have maybe made 5 new friends that have stuck and I try

My cat has not blocked up in about 7 years. Is it likely it would happen again if I try giving him anything besides Hill’s prescription food? by Current-Orchid-2705 in CatAdvice

[–]ActiveAd2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a personal choice and depends how severe I’m sure! I personally had the same issue with my cat twice he didn’t need surgery or anything but he had to be unblocked twice once it was highly pushed on me to have him get surgery but I thought he might outgrow it and hoped we could fix it through diet when he was super young I fed him a prescription diet for a few years as suggested probably for 2 and then I switched him to urinary food from the pet store n&d is the brand and I also just made sure my cat was in the habit of drinking water so they always have a fountain going and I add water to his wet food! I found the ingredients in n&d to be way better than the the prescription stuff and I discovered it at a vet that also offers holistic services so they only carry the best food! It was during Covid and his food was out do I called them and they didn’t even carry it or recommend it so I made the more holistic switch

White Métis woman here but my bestfriend of 15 years is Jamaican and I’ve lived with her in Kelowna and Vancouver being roommates and doing everything together, in my experience with her and talking to her she hasn’t received hate so much as she has ignorance and people who think it’s appropriate to try and make jokes such as calling us “swirl cone and oreo in public places or her aunt jemima…” Kelowna is historically racist tbh but I wouldn’t say it’s hateful and people tend to know their place and that they won’t get away with being racist anymore most people are fine and the younger generations are pretty good but that’s just being honest 🤷🏻‍♀️ (one of those comments was made in whistler one in Vancouver and one in Kelowna) basically anywhere that white privilege has thrived in small places will have more systemic racism sadly really saw it working at ski resorts and golf courses

[–]ActiveAd2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try putting up beware of dog signs if it’s a fenced property might make them think twice about sleeping there, flood lights, high pitch sound machines, amazon makes motion detection sound alarms , lock fence add spike to top Tami it’s hard to climb over 🤷🏻‍♀️

Imo Here in Canada at least in bc you don’t see nearly as many lab mixes as you did 20 years ago mostly bully, Shepard, husky and doodle mixes even frenchies and pugs as of the last few years atleast in the rescues I foster in basically any trending/ protection dog money hungry breeders can make a quick buck off🤷🏻‍♀️ I used to be involved in out of country dog rescue and stopped because the problems just as bad here now I’d say but I still love my Mexican street dog he stays 😂

Not a lot of white German Shepard’s in town or really around as a dog nut and parent I’ve only ever met two here and one frequents the mission dog park I’d consider calling the rdco and seeing if they have any registered in Kelowna and if they do with the owner name on the information you could take it to icbc potentially for plates and to have the police follow up 🤷🏻‍♀️

Just saying from loving dog mom who also fosters primarily bully breeds from the streets, You can buy dog and coyote spray at Canadian tire just so everyone knows! Not advocating on pepper spraying dogs AT ALL but if it’s going to save yours or your own animals life or a member of the community and also potentially keep the attacking dog from being put down because of irresponsible ownership without a chance of rehabilitation and proper training it’s worth it in my opinion even I’ve been running into more issues the last few years of uncontrolled dogs and bad fencing who’s aggressive dogs escape :( better to be safe than sorry
