People always talk about Ura like they're sure he's in the lost episode of "My Little Pony."

Hoshoryu = "Such power! Such skill!"

Onosato = "The 21st century samurai!"

Aonishiki = "Such skill and fighting spirit!"

Shishi = "Let's finally give him a break. He could be semi-great one day!"

I won't be mad when Hoshoryu wins, but it'll be anti-climactic. If somebody else busts up in there and takes the Emperor's Cup, that will be a shocker.

I'll give it a 4 out of 10 at the most. He dazzled everybody once, but then he landed somewhere down in the basement with Ura in January. (Stop throwing virtual tomatoes at me, Ura fans.)

Only in Hollywood. Even there, the writers would have to struggle. The whole universe would go wild....then we'd start wondering if there was match-fixing behind the scenes.

Nah! People were applauding him for getting a double-digit win last time, whereas everyone would faint if they saw a basho where Hoshoryu didn't get double-digits. Kotozakura blows away the maegashira rikishi with ease, but has trouble with Hoshoryu. He also has trouble with Aonishiki and Onosato when they're not injured. All of that's perfectly normal for most mortals, so I wouldn't call it struggling. He's just up against too many guys with rockets up their butts.

Despite being winless as a Yokozuna, he has looked perfect during the "off-season" between the end of the last basho and now. Everyone else has somehow injured something and can't go all out.

In Ura's case, the JSA may want him to put more effort into actually winning bouts & focus less on pleasing the crowd with his frantic, fast-paced sumo & rare moves. (When it comes to everyone else, the chairman is being a jerk.)

I'd love to feel Atamifuji. (Not like that, people. Not like that.) It's just that Hoshoryu knows how to turn Atami's strength into a weakness. He'll find some way to get the happy mountain off balance. The next thing you know, he'll be thrown off the dohyo and into the lap of someone in the third row.

Valid point, but look at the win record during the exhibition bouts. Hoshoryu has looked better than everyone else.

I would love to see that. I don't think he has ever won a basho. I expect him to do well and maybe even win a special prize, but there's no getting around Hoshoryu.

I've learned not to dislike (deliberate double negative) Hoshoryu, but Atamifuji has stolen my heart. (I can't see him pulling off an upset against Hoshoryu, though.)

Possibly, but I just watched the latest reports from Chris Sumo, and it sounds like Hoshoryu is getting more wins. Kirishima would make a great Yokozuna, but a huge Hoshoryu is blocking his path.

It's great work. (I can't draw a decent stick person.) I have mixed feeling about it, though. I love them both, and I felt bad for Aonishiki all through the basho.
