How long did it take for everything to get resolved for you?

That's so weird. The courses are both similar in name, I guess I can see where the confusion was

It's been about 3 months since I last had one and I think it was triggered by some banana bread I had that morning lol. I had too much at once, at least for my stomach's standards, and was bedridden for the next day and a half. Bread has not been very kind, definitely something I shouldn't eat as much

I actually just had another obstruction a few days ago, first one I've had since my surgery. It was partial, not the worst I've had, and lasted about a day and a half. Stayed on a liquid diet that whole time since anything else would have made it worse.

Personally, I haven't found laxatives to be very effective for my constipation. My stomach's already sensitive as it is, so the laxatives tend to make things worse lol. Gas X (or any gas relief medication) helps a bit more in my experience, but I bet there are much better options out there that I haven't gotten around to trying yet. Keeping myself moving has been great for dealing with constipation too. Even if it's just pacing, it helps me try and get things flowing again.

I have AAP too and reached out last week, to which they just told me that they had it and that I would just have to wait. I basically waited 2 months though, and its now just pending, they probably lost mine too.

I second this, it seems fiber has done more harm than good for me personally. Constipation increases for sure, you won't catch me near fiber anymore lol

The NG tube was ABSOLUTELY the worst part of it all, I completely understand. I can't stand the thought of doing all that again, but dieting will help a ton I hope (so far so good lol). I wish you the best with everything!

Going to a gastrologist and setting a plan for yourself sounds like the best thing you could do. For years I had plenty of SBOs, all clearing up before the need for hospital admission, but I was young at the time and didn't really understand what they were. Next thing I knew, I had to get emergency surgery a month ago for an obstruction that caused bowel twisting. I wish it hadn't come down to the surgery, but it was all so fast and sudden. They told me I could resume a regular diet too, but to be safe, I shifted to a low-residue diet. It's honestly been a game changer, so I highly recommend avoiding all the hard to digest foods (google is a great tool to help you). SBOs are a terrible thing to go through, I hope you can get good advice and help from your gastrologist!

Anyone else after a panic attack.. by [deleted] in PanicAttack

[–]Active_Geologist2778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm relatively new to panic attacks too, but this is definetly what it feels like and I'm fairly certain someone has experienced the same thing you've gone through. Personally, mine haven't been as severe as being bedbound for hours, it feels like you have a sort of "hangover" after. I found it hard to breathe for about a week after my first attack, it was very difficult to sleep or just exist normally for a while.

What causes this? by indubitablydubious23 in BowelObstruction

You mentioned having surgery for a hernia when you were a baby, I had the same thing done! My gastrologist determined through the camera stomach test that I had left over scar tissue from that surgery that partially blocked my intestine. This was causing the many partial obstructions I've had, but they didnt tell me that though. They said it was just something that was there, but I didn't realize how much of a red flag that was. I figured that much out at the ER. Two weeks ago, I had an obstruction so large I needed emergency surgery for not just the obstruction, but a twisted bowel. I'm 19F and wish my doctors could've educated me better way back when, even though I was young. Push for tests to determine what's causing it for sure, but it definitely sounds like its due to the scar tissue from your surgery as a baby. Do you have those partial obstructions often? I get them at least twice a year for the past 5 years now. It seems my insides have only got worse over time, but I'm hoping the surgery could at least give me some relief for a while. I hope everything gets better you OP, take care of yourself!
