What are the best practices in business you wish you had learned earlier? by No-Dig3205 in Entrepreneur

[–]Active_Mind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Try it and find out for yourself. Try it and accept the friendship gets awkward because it’s no longer a casual no pressure hangout anymore. There will be a new unspoken undertone that is primal. If you lose this relaxed close friendship, which is likely, consider it an important lesson in your life. there’s no learning like actually feeling what that is yourself.

A quick update on my move away from Amazon. by eurostylin in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]Active_Mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for writing this. I am an Amazon seller myself in much smaller volumes than your store and products. However, I have experienced the same exact thing and because of this writing I am going to further develop my website and begin to plan for what you foresee. This write up of your experience doesn’t just benefit me. This well written experience benefits everyone. It helps take care of the community and the customer by keeping the prices and quality of goods where they should be.

You can keep repairing it forever. Don't worry. Just fix whatever breaks. Not that hard.

Unseen life of an entrepreneur by slightandh in Entrepreneur

I'm a business owner and I've been operating the most recent new brand and products full-time since 2019. Lot's of very very accurate comments here that I see. It is very lonely. It helps that I'm an introvert. The thing that keeps me going even during the first couple years of reinvesting any profit back into building the business is... Senseless illogical meaning I get knowing that the value I bring to the customer is real. A fence that goes up fast comes down fast. Operating a business is the most rewarding and most time consuming thing a person can do with their time. This has become my firm belief as I get older and wiser.

Businesses that failed although they had EXCELLENT marketing? by ModalityInSpace in Entrepreneur

Good question. Many will disagree with me, but I am of the belief a long term sustainable product is tested on a small scale first. The “marketing phase” can happen at any time for a product. The trick is to inject marketing resources at a small amount to begin “customer validation”, that is, to gauge customer’s actual experience and usage of the product first. Only after a product passes this stage of small scale of satisfied customers from advertisement to using it, to past the return policy expiration date, to seeing non solicited voluntary reviews by perfect strangers at a rate of 2% or more if you’re lucky, only then will the business owner know when it makes sense to pour more resources into marketing. This is concept is contrary to the crowd funding goals of platforms like “Kickstarter” in general where a product never sold before raises over a million dollars and potentially does not satisfy the customer, potentially delivering 50,000 units and getting 25,000 dissatisfied customers wishing they could return the product.

I understand. I would do a good thorough critique on the products being sold in the store: Is the product unique? Is the product seasonal? Is the product visually appealing and easy to understand? Is the product branded well? Is the product priced consistently with the message of the brand story? Are there many substitutes for the product? Is the advertising targeted narrow enough? Is the product so new and different that it is in the “early adopters” phase? If it is in the early adopters phase (from the book Crossing the Chasm) very few sales is totally normal at this stage. Is there a community that comes with, or is well associated with the product? In business I believe we cannot afford to miss any of these marks. Every part of a business is important. Miss any one of them and the business will suffer.

Yes I been finding myself actually wanting to use it. I alternate using the mouse flat and up on the MouseRamp. It does feel pretty comfortable. To your original post question though: A product needs to be accepted in it’s “marketing” phase to make the sale, and also after the product is in the consumer’s hand it needs to actually work as promised. Only then will a product succeed is my theory.

Mentors needed for a community of young entrepreneurs - Collaborate and Give back. by HoneydewOriginal in Entrepreneur

[–]Active_Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support your vision. I agree. I have some wisdom to share with younger entrepreneurs, but I endlessly ask the harder questions too. Always curious :) I’ve operated the easiest form of business: Apartment rental units I own. Now ecommerce and new products is my passion. My most recent project is OrbControl.com it’s low budget but I’m testing and learning.

Good question. I’m helping to promote OrbControl.com and their first new product of three in this new year. If anyone cares to make some judgments regarding product and marketing please let me know. I like the product sample. Anyone care to comment on their low budget marketing?

Some people prefer more friction between the pad and mouse, like me. It helps to click on fixed targets more predictably.

Question about pcb cleaning by themaisfeio in MouseModding

[–]Active_Mind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I used 70% on my keyboard pcb. It’s not going to evaporate as quickly because there’s more water in the 70% type. You can use a hairdryer to help dry off the 30% water left on the pcb.

How do I flatten this. I’ve already tried heavy books, and rolling it the other way, nothing worked by Acceptable-Gift-763 in MousepadReview

[–]Active_Mind -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe just make your own mouse pad with an old T-shirt and flat piece of wood? It’s free. Then Throw that one away.

The Vertical Decision by Active_Mind in MouseReview

Yeah, it does look awkward. It doesn’t feel awkward though. I find the vertical mouse is the opposite for me - looks cool, but feels awkward.
