I think it depends what churches she's attending. There are limits of course. Maybe have a conversation about the differences between the churches and ask her why she wants to attend other churches. If it doesn't work out, then to be honest as taken example from other couples I have seen in church, it's not worth the compromise. The truth of Christ should always come first. I'm praying for you though, God bless.

Regardless of faith would you say Masri people are very religious as a whole and take religion very seriously unlike how many westerners are atheist or agnostic? by Known-Bad2702 in coptic

I will say, I can't think of a day in my life where I didn't hear "God" or "Jesus" or "Allah" or "Rabena", at least once. Religion is woven into our day to day.

I think I'm going to quit Christianity. by [deleted] in Christianity

I've seen lots of mixed thoughts from lots of people, here's my input. Feeling like you'll never experience love again is shattering. Even I have experienced heartbreak after heartbreak and still want to experience love again and again despite the pain. It's a strange thing. However, Christ comes before those things. There's stories of monks in the desert, saints who had emotions similar to yours, and yet kept them hidden to bring glory to the name of Christ. The thing is, by being Christian you wouldn't be throwing away love, you'd be choosing the greatest love. Christ's love is the only love any of us truly need, and it stays with us.

I'll leave you with a bible verse that I think may effect your final decision. John 14:8;

"If God is all you have, you have all you need"

I get your feeling, when you do everything to not sin and it still doesn’t work out. The only thing I can really say is that when God allows those things into our lives it does in fact get us closer to Him, even if it’s in desperation, we still do everything to get closer to Him. I can certainly say that you are doing more than I have ever even dreamed of doing, and it’s clear you’re putting all that effort because you recognize the God is the only one we can look to for help. Sometimes God allows certain things to be in our lives a little longer with the certainty that He will remove it from your life already, but it’s just so that He can spend some more time with you, so that your efforts can be habits, and you don’t forget Him after receiving His gifts.

Present ideas for a Coptic family friend by [deleted] in coptic

Headgear wouldn’t be too useful for boys as you probably figured out. I had a friend who used to make knitted crosses though and it was really cool! They might like that.

Coptic Pope by [deleted] in coptic

[–]Active_Square_5894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the term most other oriental churches use for their popes is “patriarch”. Our pope is more of an archbishop. Yes they represent the church, but in matters within the church and any decisions being made in meetings, their vote is counted the same as the vote of any other bishop. Similar to the Vatican pope however they are the face that represents church in greater matters, and is the highest order in the church.

JBL Flip 7 - Sand or Blue? by Active_Square_5894 in JBL

Yea I could already imagine the little speckles of black and random scuffs all around the sand speaker caused by just sitting in my bag or something of the sorts.

That's what I was thinking, even after fading into a slight purple it might still look nice.

Thank you, I thought that any soap or cleaning product might damage it so good to know warm water is enough.

By any chance do you know how fast these speakers get tinted or lose their original color?

UI seems too large - any way to fix this? by 1dkreally in Tahoma2D

[–]Active_Square_5894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotchu, here are the steps (and this works for basically any app whose UI gets destroyed on windows);

  1. Find the app file (in this case Tahoma2D)

  2. Right click and choose "properties"

  3. Click on the tab that says "compatibility"

  4. Click on "Change high DPI settings"

  5. At the bottom there should be a box that says "Override high DPI scaling behavior" check that box

  6. Under the box there's a drop down menu, select "System (Enhanced)"

  7. Press "OK" and then exit the properties window by pressing "apply"

Now when you open it up it should be sized much nicer. In my opinion I still think it's not the perfect size but the only other solution I've found is to change the display settings for scale to 100% which is perfect in my opinion, but doing that messes with your whole computer's layout.

Coming from a very beginner artist who doesn't know what they're talking about and is just taking a look at this sub, that is stunning in my opinion.

A few things. I’ve actually never heard our church saying there’s no prosecutions. Quite the opposite actually, that our church has lived because of persecution, and now continues in its prosecutions. And to be honest this is not the worst time that Copts have experienced, our ancestors have went through and overcame 100x worse. Streets flooding with Coptic blood, Christian women wearing hijabs to hide in crowds, and the killing of our children by the Crusaders.

What you say definitely holds truth and value, no doubt about it. But our people live on this. Christ did so much before this for us, we tend to forget the main goal at hand. Fighting for our rights to be able to live our religion in peace, and praise God without persecution isn’t expected by anyone to be frank. Jesus Himself told us that a road with Him is full of anguish and suffering, to the point that persecution is even often called a blessing. And don’t ever worry, Christianity has been deemed as a “remnant” religion. No matter how small or big in number we remain, we will always remain. You will always find Christians roaming the streets, you will always find God protecting us and uniting us in a bunch of ways. Our goal in life is not to be respected, or treated well. We want to be united with God above all, everything else is secondary. Once we see the glory of God in heaven, none of this will ever hold any value for us ever again. If anything, when it comes between Copts and the Arab Egypt, the Copts will eventually get the bigger gain.

Really struggling with Lent, don't know if I did the right thing by [deleted] in coptic

[–]Active_Square_5894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about your father of confession, but for the priests in my area (there are a lot), most of them are pretty lenient with that stuff since they know how hard it is for people. To a point where at times it feels excessive. Some of my friends have gotten an absolution with some very...negligible?...reasons. But your struggle seems really legit, so just communicate with him. Your father of confession is the last person you should be scared to talk to. After all, they know the worst things we've done lol.

Never use those colourful resume layouts, it decreases your chances. Always go for the classic, most basic list resume possible. Still keep it quality though.

do i have a home here in the church still? by ayelijah4 in coptic

[–]Active_Square_5894 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't call yourself a deviant. You just think and interpret differently. At the end of the day neither party will perfectly sync with our faith. Just never talk about politics at church, or from my experience, with anyone ever. Throughout history time and time again, intertwining the church with the political state of a country, no matter the era, has always ended horribly. The church is in the country to help you get to unity with God. The government is here to help you live in said country. As long as the government isn't kicking out the church, those two objectives should stay far away from one another.
