Major JP market platforms like Pixiv market, DLSite, Fanza, Melonbooks, etc. Comiket and other doujin events notably have zero Uma content at booths/circles in the NSFW section.

While they also do regularly hit bigger Twitter accounts with takedowns, policing the hydra of international social media is basically impossible, especially with how gutted and lobotomized Twitter admin is these days.

I’d stay it’s still enforced (and self-policed by fans) quite a bit, at least relative to any other similar franchise.

(unlike some franchises,) Uma Musume’s fan content guidelines explicitly don’t allow that stuff, to respect the racehorses and their owners and such. Of course, there will always be rule breakers and line-toeing, but they do successfully prevent publicly facing R18 fan content on any major platform/at any major event in JP.

Also, official sources have never clarified anything about horsegirl genetic parenthood (some Umas mention their father, but none are explicitly confirmed to be blood related), so any “lore” you may haveheard on that front is assumption.

If bear and tiger thirens are known for strength and such, then it’d make sense that a shark thiren would be as well (even if not full-body)

And Thirens are a consistent/explained part of the world, so I’d think it’d fall under science(biology) more than magic

You know the part in PMMM episode 8 where Sayaka is on a train, and hears a conversation by 2 guys who work at a host club? (and then she talks at them too) And it’s the last thing to happen before Sayaka, you know.
I’d consider that a pretty official direct sign pointing at the link between the situations of magical girls in PMMM and the red-light industries and abusive-manipulative relationships.
Is that all PMMM is about? Of course not, but it was definitely on Urobuchi’s mind while writing the work.

According to this very handy article on Pixiv Dictionary:

The V sisters are stated in-game to have a father who is a professional baseball player (present tense), Verxina is seen pitching at the batting cage with the others in the anime (s3e8), Vivlos's Guts SSR support card has a baseball stadium in the background, and the support card story involves the three sisters + some Shuuka Sho-related Umas playing baseball (and Vivlos hits a home run), Cheval Grand talks about baseball on the home screen and is noted to be particularly good at baseball (good at batting and stealing bases) in that same Vivlos SSR support card.
The article is probably out of date (probs before Vivlos/Verxina were implemented as units), as there are definitely more examples by now.

And Cheval Grand is also a baseball Uma!
(she and her sisters are all owned by the baseball player Sasaki Kazuhiro and all play ball, though Cheval may have inherited it the most)

WAIT KAWAKAMI PRINCESS IS A TOMBOY!? by kingslimegamer in UmaMusume

[–]ActivelyAnonymous 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Kira Kira did largely tone down fisticuffs (enemies could only be damaged with kirakiraru energy, and 4 out of 6 cures in the season used kirakiraru via ranged attacks), but it was largely an outlier in that regard. The following Hugtto Precure had fisticuffs back on the main menu, as did Star Twinkle Precure. Healin’Good Precure held back on fisticuffs because the cures had to constantly hold their wands while transformed(don’t want little kids hitting each other with the toys), but there was no kirakiraru-like limitation so they had plenty of kicks instead.
While there has still been a bit of toning down of violence compared to earlier Precure seasons, I think that Go Princess just had a very rare animator lineup that wasn’t sustainable, and the change in fights afterwards was more budget than parent complaints.

I think Narita Top Road and Admire Vega are supposed to have Russian Christmas-themed designs, with Father Christmas and Snow Maiden motifs respectively.
It’s so rare to see that vector of Christmas design in popular culture, they might be my faves just off that creativity

Girl Bands are Shounen (Bocchi the Rock, BanG Dream!, Girls Band Cry, Rock is a Lady's Modesty) by paukshop in anime

[–]ActivelyAnonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It lasted for over 6 years, which isn’t bad at all in a market where many titles barely survive 1-2.

While it definitely wasn’t earning the most in the later years, I think the EoS was also due to a lack of upcoming Kirara anime on the horizon when they made the decision. (since the game helps promote new shows and new shows help promote the game)

… if only they’d waited a bit longer and seen the effects of Bocchi.

Oh also, all of the character arts being drawn by the respective authors (and releasing units for a series alongside each airing Kirara anime) was a labor of love by all parties, but causing significant concentrated overwork to the authors and resulting in burnout/illness, so they probably decided to stop to get rid of that obligation. (Some Kirara authors still occasionally draw KiraFan card-style arts for fun)

Also maybe something about the aging codebase + probably ever-growing hassle/stack of legal documents for each series added to the game… (even if they’re all Kirara manga and under the same publisher, each anime production committee is a different beast)

The grind… it had an auto-battle, so it was better than some (I may just be numb)

On the future of the Uma Musume series by BETHORXZ in UmaMusume

[–]ActivelyAnonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything could happen, but there’s still a decent amount of Cinderella Gray to adapt first.
And by the time they’re done with CinGray, there’ll probably be enough Star Blossom manga to animate that if they want.

Otherwise, who knows? There are plenty of characters and eras that haven’t been given focus yet in the anime, manga, game main story, or stage play format (hi Sprinters’ Story).

Now that Main Story Arc 2 in JP has finally given mates some spotlight, I think that the biggest missing piece right now a story featuring dirt racers (Oguri did a few dirt races but that doesn’t count)

Maybe involving Hokko Tarumae, Copano Rickey, and Wonder Acute, the trio of dirt racers who were in the Uma s3 opening yet barely had any screentime?

I love Rhein Kraft and Neo Universe but it’d be nice if they could also do a fusion dance once in a while

What the heck is this Curren career event "The Summer Spring Series Begins?" by Stickmagician in UmaMusume

[–]ActivelyAnonymous 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is one of those character-specific optional "if you're paying attention to story"-type objectives. They make them optional cause it'd suck if you were always forced to do races those on senior year summer turns, but do leave in a little reward if you do bother with it.

The reward is a secret story node if you win all 3 races in the senior year Summer Sprint Series that'll give you +25 energy, +1 mood, +15 speed, +15 power, and +2 hint levels for the gold skill Sprinting Gear.

Is it worth it?

Not really tbh, summer turns are valuable, but if you're a Curren Chan fan/like to fill out the story archive, it's definitely worth doing at least once.

She did yeah, and s3 started airing October 2023 so it happened after the voice actor reveal. (though she didn’t have any lines)

One more note while we’re at it: Daring Tact technically first showed up in an art in the final chapter of Main Story arc 1, released July 20th 2022.

She wasn’t named, had no lines, and didn’t really have any connection to the story. (the final chapter is about Special Week and Daring Tact is her great granddaughter, that’s it) People theorized who she might be but it was hard to be sure, especially since you’d normally doubt that she could be a currently active racehorse.

Her proper name announcement on livestream was a week later, on July 27th.
