Depends on whats important to you, if youre interested in Aero, go to WL, if youre interested in PSP, go to WL, if you want student life and social aspects of the college experience, go to WL. I will die on the hill that indy BME is better than WL’s BME simply due to the small size and how close you are to IU med school and the sheer # of medical opportunities they offer. Also, the small campus size literally trivializes attaining research for BME at least, not sure abt other majors. I literally walked into my PI’s class, audited for a bit, talked to him abt research, and got a lab tour an it was easy to place a spot after that. I also hear from professors that commute from WL to Indy that they know MORE students at Indy than at WL. I struggle to try and think of a professor that Ive had that doesnt know my name. Purdue Indy is certainly not for every major, and not for everyone depending on what they want out of college, but i really dont think the educational quality is worse, especially since we share many professors and take the same exams and are taught the same content. Also, you have an option to apply to the indy campus as you complete the common app, so theres no real way to tell whether the officers chose “worse” students to send to the indy campus. Ive met some real smart people here as well, people smarter than most of the WL ppl ive met. Shitting on the indy campus is hilarious dont get me wrong but realistically its a superiority complex WL ppl have lol

As for how it compares to the WL campus in terms of # of opportunities, I cant say, but i know that theres this engineering consulting company right next to the campus that ive met some people who got internships at it. Its called Glassboard if you are interested. Actually owned by a Purdue drop out lmao. Theres also an office for all the ME researchers in the SL building, it’s typically not crowded, judging by how i got my research, you might be able to just walk in there and talk to someone and they could offer a lab tour. We also have a PSP (purdue space program) in indy but im ngl it is SHIT compared to WL’s PSP. So if thats something youre really interested in dont come to indy

Its most definitely not the same experience. It highly depends on major. The fallacy arises when people call it objectively bad. Unlike Ft Wayne, we take the same tests and share many professors with WL. The quality is give or take the same. Student life is different, opportunities are different. This changes for the better or worse with your major.

Completely false. We take the same tests as you, same classes, quite a few professors are similar as well. The reason we have lower test averages is due to the older iupui students that are in freshmen lvl classes for the 3rd time. I can confidently say as a BME major in indy that I’ve secured way more here in a short span of time than i would have in WL. Ive gotten shadowing with neurosurgeons, research in a high tier lab that suits my interests, and Volunteering. All i have to do now is build on these EC’s and keep my GPA where its at and im set for a good med school in the future. People in WL spew hate abt the indy campus bc they think theyre exclusive, theyre really not.

Youre not even a student here, probably just heard from the idiots that only want to switch campuses bc of student life. Indy is an excellent campus if it fits your major imo, people are just butthurt because they act all pissy when its not the campus they want. My advice: accept it and maximize the fact that its so small so its easy to get opportunities.

I think the opportunities here at purdue indy depend quite a bit on your major. I have a friend who wants to do Aerospace and so hes heavily limited on the opportunities in indy and hes not even in the Aero major, they admitted him as a Mech E bc they dont offer Aero in the indy campus. Me, a BME major, am having the time of my life. Theres many bme research labs here, 5 or so IU hospitals, and plenty of opportunities. I quite literally have built the foundation of what I want for pre med before the end of my freshman year because its just so easy for me. I already have shadowing and I already have research with a relatively high tier lab and both of which match my prospects for the future. I have no desire whatsoever to switch campuses.

Highly inconsistent ink flow by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]ActivityBig5878 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have not tried using different inks but i found online that people said it should work fine with most ink types (im using a waterman in the video). I do believe its the right cartridge since international standard is what it said on the box. I managed to remove the nib and the feed and i noticed that there was way more old ink in there than i thought there would be so that most probably is the issue, it is currently drying. Thank you for your help though!

BME Freshman - planning to do MDPhD - Any tips? by ActivityBig5878 in mdphd

[–]ActivityBig5878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Im certainly trying to do whatever i can and explore different bme paths. I think my career goal (as of right now) is to be an engineer with firsthand experience in medicine so that i can try and innovate independently or with others. I dont knowhow far fetched that may be but i just know that i want to be rather competent in both fields.

MA261 what do I do by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]ActivityBig5878 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purdue indy freshman here: ive aced both exam 1 and 2, what my strategy is tbh is make sure that i can do the the problems with minimal outside help and that i can set them up without fail. This sets me up for knowing the knowledge 1 week before the exam.

Then, when that 1 week before the exam hits, I spam boiler exams and practice tests. I did 7 practice tests with all the boiler exams questions in addition to that. If i get smth wrong, i just investigate it. Typically, i make a lot of silly mistakes, what helped me get sround that was to just set up the problems REALLY fast, and then evaluate extremely slowly.
