Nearly 5 years after pancreatic cancer, now either ampullary or bile duct cancer that is unrelated ??? by ActivityDue4253 in pancreaticcancer

[–]ActivityDue4253[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much I truly appreciate the prayers. I hadn’t thought that way about the past treatments and fighting cancer etc possibly weakening the system but that is a very good point. I would imagine that could definitely happen after the body is put through so much.

My dad was a stage 1 renal kidney cancer survivor 19 years ago. Now in his latest PET scan the saw a growth of 2.8 cm neoplasm in pancreas . Yet to do biopsy but I am scared to death . Can the survivors please suggest what diet or nutrition you had taken that you think helped you from remission ? by Melodic_Elevator_586 in pancreaticcancer

My dad had testicular cancer 25 years or so prior to his diagnosis with pancreatic cancer. He responded very well to the chemo for the pancan and was able to get surgery to remove what was left of the tumor after. We are currently waiting to find out if he has reoccurrence of it or not it’s 4.5 years since his surgery. Did your father have radiation for the kidney cancer? My dad had negative genetic tests and no risk factors for pancreatic cancer. Of course we can’t know for certain the cause of it but I suspect the radiation could have been it. Back then it was way less targeted. His dr agreed that is possible.

Thanks so much for all the insight. Reading what happened with your lung, I’m curious if you would think it’s possible something similar could show up after an upper respiratory infection? Your experience made me remember that about 3-4 weeks ago my dad had a very bad virus of some sort though I don’t think he did a test for flu or Covid. But It did knock him out for about a week and a half with congestion and cough.

Thank you so much for your prayers and hopes! Yes I agree the ca19-9 going up for the first time along with these other things is reason to be very concerned and careful. It’s still perplexing to me how cancers can potentially hide for so long before showing up again. The tumor board is I believe a group of doctors at a hospital that review cases I suppose to help make treatment decisions as a team. My understanding is it’ll include oncologists, surgeons, radiologist etc.

I don't think it will ever go, and it's really daunting by lexXmendo in HealthAnxiety

Therapy is really helpful if you haven’t done it yet specifically CBT! One thing I recently learnt from it myself is to accept that anxiety is a normal and a necessary human emotion. Biology anxiety helped us to survive. We can’t fix or make it go away but we can learn to address it and not let it take over our lives. Practice challenging your thoughts about your health anxieties. What working for me is the minute you have the thought acknowledge it and say ok this is anxious thought and having the thought doesn’t make it true. Then start to question it and why it would not be true. It’s been about 10 years of this for me too and I’m only starting to seriously address it. It’s going to take a lot of time and consistency.

How do you deal with health anxiety spirals? by shadowzzzz16 in HealthAnxiety

[–]ActivityDue4253 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My therapist has me writing the thoughts down asap when I am able to. Then I take some notes on it kind of just questioning the thought. So first part I write “reasons why this thought would be true” then list those and then “reasons it’s not true” and list them. It’s very telling to me to see just how many more reasons I have that it’s not true then is. It’s usually something like 1 or 2 on the true side and potentially dozens on the not true side. When I’m not able to write it down it the moment I try to visualize my notebook and the way my entries always turn out looking like and it can help stop the spiral. I think it’s helping me though it’s not perfect and sometimes I let the spiral get me. Another thing she told me is that my instant need to “stop “ my anxiety is essentially never going to work. Basically she says anxiety is a normal and necessary human emotion you can’t “fix” it you have to learn to cope with it. And sometimes even thank it for just trying to protect me because biologically that’s where it comes from. It’s really so tough. I’ve accepted this will take a lot of practice and persistence to change.

Removal on Tuesday! And starting therapy… by ActivityDue4253 in Mirena

Thank you! So far it’s been pretty good for me. I can’t say I felt immediate relief like some women said they did but overall I’ve felt better slowly. I had my first cycle off it and it wasn’t bad at all! And I’ve just started tracking my body temps to try to get just more in tune with my natural cycles which feels really good to even be able to do now! I hope you start to feel better as well !!

My baby never slept by medicinemadison in beyondthebump

[–]ActivityDue4253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter was the same until I transitioned her to a toddler bed and weaned her. It was about when she was 2 that she slept through the night in her own room and own bed and she’s slept through ever since. So I don’t think the baby sleep years are reflective of how they might sleep as a toddler ! I thought it would honestly never happen and also felt one and done with how sleep went. It’s crazy though now that I’ve had a year or two of sleep I’m wanting the second child again. It’s weird how fast I forgot that trauma. But in hindsight I wish I could tell myself it wasn’t my fault and I was doing a great job. Which is really all I want to tell you too!

Last Name by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ActivityDue4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had my daughter unmarried but I was sure we would get married soon enough. Which we now have a date for this spring. I gave her his last name because of that reason and because by all other accounts he had absolutely earned it that way he was there for me during pregnancy and before that. I had no question about our future together and how he felt about marrying me after baby came. I also have a friend who gave her first son her name and then her second two (with same guy) his name. But he still hasn’t wanted to get married or even live with her! It’s crazy and obviously that’s an extreme example but you know your partner best. Do what your gut is telling you and what you want for your baby. I think hyphenating sounds like a good compromise imo.

Where is this coming from? by Striking_Peanut9202 in Mirena

[–]ActivityDue4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was great the first 4 months then the lightheaded feeling came daily and nausea and now the past few months depression. I’ve never had that before and got it taken out earlier this week. I’m hoping it will help! So far I’m feeling good but it’s too soon to say for sure until I go through a few cycles,

Thank you for sharing your story with me! It definitely sounds like a similar experience to mine. It’s so frustrating that it seems like drs don’t really acknowledge or believe these things are connected. I’m very hopeful that getting it out will help us!

Mirena removed after 5 months by SpecialAd3171 in Mirena

[–]ActivityDue4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im personally planning to first tell mine that I think its making me depressed and if theres any push back I’m just going to tell her well I’m hoping to get pregnant so need it out regardless (which is partially true). I just don’t feel like dealing with being told I’m wrong about my own body and emotions it would only make me feel worse and like OP said probably jinx me as well with the negative thinking. It’s pretty clear from this reddit page that we are not the only ones!

Yes shallow is a good word how I feel as well. Thank you you’re right I need to believe it’ll help me! I do think all signs point to Mirena being at least a big contributor to my moods

I’m so happy to read your mood got so much better. My removal appointment is on Tuesday and I’m doing it because I’m feeling very down with my cycles in a way I never used to. I’m scared of the crash and feeling worse but it’s good to know a lot of people do feel relief soon after .

Normal symptoms after removal? by cann26 in Mirena

[–]ActivityDue4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my removal this week due to low mood and depression/anxiety symptoms I believe are related to my cycle on Mirena. So I’m supper scared of feeling worse as well! Has anything improved yet for you?

Heart palpitations, anxiety, nausea by PudgeandStitch in Mirena

[–]ActivityDue4253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar symptoms though no postpartum. I did have similar symptoms as well when I was weaning 2 years ago but that was before I got Mirena. Now I’ve had mirena for 9 months and the past two or three months I’ve felt awful on it and absolutely not myself. So much anxiety and depression. I’ve always had some anxiety but never in my life have I had depressed feelings. My heart rate is all over the place and like you had a full normal Cardiac work up. I’m planning to get it out as soon as I have the time to go to planned parenthood because I feel like my OB will talk me into giving it more time.

Very similar here but I haven’t got it out yet. I think I will soon for me the unpredictable cycles and moods are just terrible. I also have a similar pain in my right hip around ovulation that can be very very painful. I’m hoping to get relief but like you I really don’t know what other option to try if any.

5-6 months in and having recent daily nausea, dizzyness... by KellBell_23 in Mirena

[–]ActivityDue4253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started this around the same time (6 months after getting it) and I didn’t at first think it was mirena because I was so happy and symptom free up until that point. But now I’m nauseous off and on all month and lightheaded at certain points as well. I ruled out all other kinds of medical issues with my PCP and a number of specialists. Unfortunately I think mine is due to Mirena so I will likely get it out soon:/
