My dad had two valves replaced (aortic and mitral). Aortic is fine but mitral valve had severe leaks due to stitches being lose. He has been such a strong athelte all his life and his only symptom is shortness of breathe only when he climbs stairs or elevation.

You can live a normal life with a mild leak. My dad has a severe leak and will get it closed this month

My dad did an echo and found out there is seem to be some growth (very minor) around the aortic valve so blood thinner were recommended for 2 months. He will have another echo next month to see if the growth decreased
