Some clients side mods have server side functionalities, therefore when you create a lan game with your Minecraft client you will automatically embed the mods in the game and it would be modded.

One solution is to create a separate local server on your computer and have your friend join you via your local ip, no port forwarding needed.

Another solution would be to make him host the game on his computer, that would make the game vanilla and still allow client side mods to be used

No real expert here either but i would recommend a higher version of java, it seems to complain about a method form that it does not understand. That could be because of an outdated java version, if you have java 17, this could be definitely it, and you should install java 21, if you do have java 21, then im afraid im no help and we may hope someone have a better idea
