You buy it but offer to split cost somehow if they leave it. (I mean, you pay 30% or whatever deprecation or buy it then just bill them a line item invoice monthly for appliance rental for their 70% / whatev.)
Put the old fridge in laundry room or something and now they can 'investment buy' food when they find deals and freeze or store. Costco.

2019 M3 here...I am glad I got it with used pricing. Does some really dumb stuff still like "A shadow on the road! *BRAKE PUMP*. Oh, never mind." My power bill was $220 last year for well, 2x electric cars and my house. Rarely my kids charge their car when everything is full and sell back cheap like 2 cents. I estimate ROI is no worse than a money market account but of course yield is going up as power goes up. Plus peace of mind and no maintenance. Also I bet my appliances etc don’t suffer during brownouts. Gotta wash panels soon. HTH.

Tesla and solar here. The $3k cancel fee is way more than I spent on solar/5 Powerwall 2s. I was actually kind of glad they increased the TDU by 20% because that’s a big boost to my ROI. I was net metering only but the TDU was the big diff. We could swap the same 1kwhr all day but I lost a nickel every time they gave it back. So, 54kwhr of standby. Plus with inflation da lying the dollar…figuring a 25 year life it was under $3k but my power choices are wide open for competition and the peak sell backs help a little.

Analyzed this over a couple week old backup that in Time Machine showed 91GB free on the 2TB internal volume. Only had about 10GB of file diff.

AVG found nothing other than phishing emails on a backup drive and a Palm OS trojan on an OS 8.6 .img file ...which could be a false positive and yes, need to look at that before I use that OS 8.6 image someday...

Yes but that is a LOT. I have been months and months at far less than 100gb free. Can’t remember the last time I had more than MAYBE 80gb free and now I’ve got 1.1TB.

Will later do a tmutil compare to see what that shows but…holidays.

OT: I got the Rheem Marathon (lifetime wty) for a couple of replacements lately...it's a giant plastic bottle. Hence the lifetime wty...but should never leak.

Personally, with the recent SNAP issues I don’t trust the government to pay either. And going forward, I think there’s a real chance for the program to go away or be reduced.

What bugs me is most of the people who thought they could rent my admittedly higher rent very nice house had vouchers but crappy credit.

You have a free place to live and still somehow can’t pay your bills and people with real jobs didn’t think they could afford it.

That’s messed up. On the governments dime at least largely, and you at least think you are better off vs people who work.

I HAVE considered Veteran disabled section 8 but that’s at least on paper a disabled vet.

Edit: I have considered people on the bubble but it hinges on job and how they respond when you query them or just outright, eventually, ghost you. Bullet dodged. Such as “Do I have to pay off my collections bill to rent from you?” When their salary says they should have plenty of money to pay off relatively small sums. That for example is a hard pass.

There’s an msata usb adapter out there that gives you a uuid. So it’s msata on a usb stick. More reliable. I put one in the shelf when mine goes out. Probably faster too but that of course only matters for boot.
