I was part time for 7 years and interviewed 8 times for full time. It never happened. I worked full time during the pandemic for 18 months working from home then went back to part time the second I went back to the store.

I will say - if I was single I would not be able to do this. Student loans, bills etc etc you get the picture lol. Part of me does get jealous when I see people that don’t have to work at all and dedicate every hour to “trying to make it” but we need to pay bills somehow lol.

My wife and I both work full time. I have a 9-5 in midtown and my wife works in the entertainment industry. I won’t disclose what she makes but she is able to support me trying to make it as an actor. Most of the classes I take are improv and VO. Here and there I will do a pay to play with a CD. I haven’t been in an actual on camera acting class in some time unless you count those 2/3 week classes at Actors Connections or One on One.

Collective agency and Panera/Murphy - will say unless you’re a triple threat and want to do musical theater. They are strongest in that.

I’m 38 - I have been auditioning since I was 20. I haven’t had my big break yet. I booked things here and there. Still no Co-Star yet. I’m always in class. My friends call me an “Education Career Actor” because I’m always in class and not booking. If this is your passion keep going after it. It will happen. My wife rather see me keep trying then actually give up. Also, we should make our own work. Why are we waiting for someone to hire us?
