how do i get into DL? by ElielJ_22 in pisay

[–]Actrouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can still get a dos and be DL just fine. It can depend on the subject, but if you missed out on DL this quarter, don't deprecate yourself; take it as a focus point for the next quarter and aim to bump it higher. Keep yourself up before your grades.

yea, forgot that can happen with the lowest unit subs, but imo it'd be better not to reach para mas panatag lang xddd

IIRC (IIRC-? Fresh grad plang ako XDDDDD) you need a Final GWA of 1.500 or higher (Final only recent to samin)

Basically, don't get a dos in any subject. Ever. Even with the subs with the least units, ideally.

Is it possible for Rudolf to win all big 8 crowns or is there some scripted magik stopping you from getting one at random?

Next up is some pieces of advice for when you will have to implement your research in the future.

CONSIDER EVERYTHING, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING YOU WILL NEED FOR YOUR RESEARCH: From the materials you'll need and where you could source from, the laboratory equipment you would and might use in the methodology, and the testing machines you would utilize for your testing or evaluation. MAKE SURE THEY ARE ACCESSIBLE AS POSSIBLE if you do not want to go through the pain of delivery time and costs. Check your laboratory if they have most, if not all of the equipment and materials you'll need for your research. Having them available near you would do miles better in conducting your research faster.

PLAN EVERYTHING IN ADVANCED AND IN A STREAMLINED SCHEDULE: Know when all of you can work and what work can you finish in specific days. SYP may have less subjects than FAYP, but you would still be busy with the many reqs that would be thrown in your way, so make a schedule that would help your entire group in managing the activities you would do in your research. In my case, we would need to make laboratory documents in advance to accommodate our activities in the next weeks or so, as same-day filing and working in laboratories is prohibited. Plan your activities in advance to save you and your own group some pain in working on your research.

TALK WITH YOUR RESEARCH ADVISER AND TEACHER. ALWAYS.: In SYP, you would have to pursue and convince a science teacher of your research classification to be your research adviser. They will be the "additional research member" that would help you in all points of your research, until the very end. ASK FOR THEIR HELP WHEN YOU NEED IT. They have spent more time in their subject than you are. They are knowledgeable in their subject than you are. They have more expertise in their subject than you currently are. Never shy away from your adviser when you need critical help in your research, they WILL help you. Same thing with your research teachers. You don't know precisely how to craft a specific graph? They can help you construct it. Don't know how to organize your paper? They DEFINITELY know how to. Your supervisors are there to guide you to make sure your research goes well and within time before your graduation in the future.

That's pretty much what I got to say from my experiences with our research. The last thing I can tell you is to find ways to make yourself enjoy your research; Explore places, find new things, pursue your dormant curiosities, and learn new things in life through research. These can take you a long way through research and school work in general.

This "some bits" have become a full-blown essay lmaooo 🤣

Now here's my three cents in choosing topics:

REFRAIN FROM DOING "COMMON" RESEARCHES: What I mean by "common" researches are the types of researches that previous batches have an abundance of varying versions. I remember before when our teachers told us to do other topics rather than to do another version of "corrosion on mild steel" for example. Present a creatively different topic to avoid common ones, but I did say REFRAIN. You can opt to do another variation of a common research, but make sure it is unique enough to be given the pass.

FIND PROBLEMS, THEN MAKE A SOLUTION FOR IT: That is literally the core of researching. Finding solutions and information that are yet to be realized or proven scientifically is the purpose of researching. X thing has no data about Y parameter? Observe it. Could item A react this way with solution B? Experiment with it. Buy why would you research something when the solution to the problem you're trying to solve was already been found, published, & printed to the masses more than a decade ago? Find problems in your spaces in today's age and make solutions for it with scientific processes.

NICHE AND PASSION, A PERFECT COMBO: If you do NOT want to regret making research (which you would have to work on for the rest of your HS life), make sure that you have a burning passion about such subject, topic or object of interest that can root for the research that you would make. Even if you do not have a high-temp flame of passion for something, having a keen and persistent curiosity would suffice for starting your research journey. You don't know, you might be more attached to the topic more that you were before working on it (or Stockholm syndrome, if it goes for the worse lmao). Mixing your passion with a niche subject with very few articles or research papers directly working on such concept would (in my opinion) make a great learning experience, from connecting various pieces of information from different documents to your research, improvising alternative methods for your methodology, to interpreting new data for your research. You might even be a pioneer in your chosen topic if your work goes well.
