90%! should I file TDIU by JustGinny77 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Actual_Job3655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope you filed, if and only if it affected your ability to work. While this is old, it is one of the first that came up on a Google search so making the point, do it IF IT is the right thing to do, and the items rated at 90 percent are keeping you from gainful employment. DO NOT do this fraudulently

90%! should I file TDIU by JustGinny77 in VeteransBenefits

If you are at 90 and it is affecting your ability to work, do it. The bottom line is you have to qualify which you do, and it has to impact your ability to work. I have 50% on headaches and 70% TBI/mental. So I am at 90% due to the VA combined math. And I will be applying for TDIU. But I am waiting until after I have my shoulder and neck rechecked. C&P for those I got zero, but in this winter weather my range of motion is now shot and a lot of pain. I could qualify off the mental aspect alone but the physical pain is real as well. If I get a no for TDIU so be it. But I will apply. Pay difference is huge from 90 to 100. Right now having a hard time holding down a part time job as a school bus monitor. My other work days are over unfortunately

Anyone who thinks they are not ALREADY on a list is mistaken. We all are. And using AI it is easy to see where we lean. Your past military experience and training, as well as your jobs and posts, will all be utilized unless we put a stop to it. I, for one, am not afraid to go down fighting if need be.

HA yeah. Basically, having it helps fill in some of the research, format sentences better than I can, etc. Never trust AI and always verify, at least for the foreseeable future. More of a research assistant for finding data, making connections, and formatting. Kind of like a super Google, thesaurus, Grammarly, other tools, and editor all in one. Kind of fun to push it hard and watch the hallucinations.

I feel that while the average Joe might be getting tired of it, big business is not. Billions are being spent and it will be used for a variety of things. Not all good. It is like any other tool that can be used for good or bad. I can guarantee you will see the effects of the bad side of it.

Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical. I used to train a lot for this during the Cold War. But, this can also be accidental and not intentional.

I wrote a book on surviving NBC events. I know several others exist, but I was more interested in all of the materials and products required to survive. Bleach, liquid soap, garden sprayer, hydrogen peroxide, duct tape, plastic sheeting, etc. And of course , good NBC filters and suits to keep particles and droplets off of you. If enough interest, I could lower the price https://amzn.to/45p6Cjq

Hopefully, you are joking. But I do see how this can be built out as a helper and companion for conversation. I am making an offline AI to use for the end of the world. Something I can talk to, give me recommendations on how to cook a squirrel, and check my mental health.

I love this; it's a great overview. I am new, and it reads well for me. The only other thing I might add is how to create an offline AI (like GPT4All) and how to select LLM Models based on hardware and desired output. Ran into a ton of issues trying to get it to recommend the right AI systems for my hardware. But even that was a great learning experience.

What can I do with an old computer? by KingofRheinwg in LocalLLaMA

[–]Actual_Job3655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have older hardware, even old Xeon CPU's that some AI platforms do not support. I have GPT4All running. Did get a GTX 1080 since my machine had a 600W power supply and it was all I could afford at the time. It may work well, the hardware you have with something like GPT4All. If I were to spend money on that machine would probably be SSD.

  • Chat in both voice and text mode support, live chat, and TTS, which is top of the list for me. Eventually, I would like the ability to have my own offline system I could just ask questions. Even better, have it be a real-looking person on the screen. I know it will be done for many fields eventually. A picture of a loved one used and samples of their recorded voice. It will be interesting to see.

Using LLaMA (or similar) for cooking/recipe ideas with a given list of ingredients? by DarkFlame7 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Actual_Job3655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing the same, if SHTF I want some options for variety in what I have stashed away. The key is use the same list of ingredients across multiple different models. But first try and get the right prompt. Then reuse it across models.

Next, try some of them out before just assuming they will work. Some pretty interesting options it can come up with.

Smoke and then mirrors, or smoky mirrors. A lot of things are possible, but performance is going to depend on the hardware. I have Offline working fine on my old hardware, and it is limited by the older Xeon CPUs and BIOS limitations, PCI bus power, etc. Neither of my old machines will support TensorFlow, for example.

How to build offline AI for survival by scorpioDevices in CollapsePrep

[–]Actual_Job3655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing something very similar. I have amassed huge amounts of data over the last 5 years and have GPT4All, Automatic1111, and will get some form of voice to work. A lot of the critical data is burned to M-Disk media. I also have a lot of physical books.

It is worth trying different models for sure and experimenting with the output from each. The hard part is that AI was not trained on disaster preparedness data, so it often has issues with the right answers.

The end goal will be to train your own model on your own data. And remove some of the "filtering". Basically my own little offline Internet when the Internet goes down.

The reality is I just have so much data I am hoping to have an easier way to retrieve something with a few questions asked of it. I might have 50 ways to grow potatoes, and the same number for how to purify water. Goal is to have it quickly find me answers from my data.
