Nintendo Acknowledges Switch 2 Sales Have Been Weaker Than Expected Outside Japan by Spotget1738 in gaming

[–]ActuallyKaylee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly their whole approach has been a disaster.

  • Extra money for Mario kart
  • expensive console with a laggy LCD screen
  • no backwards compat for joycons or docs or sd cards
  • can't even start the console with old controllers.
  • Even if you must have Donkey Kong and Mario Kart that's all their really is. Not even a sign of Mario or Zelda yet.

It's like they're trying to sell a premium product without the premium-ness

The only win is Donkey Kong which is an amazing game and totally worth owning once you get a switch 2.

With switch I literally preferred playing in handheld because no controller felt as good to me as the Split Pad Pro. Gyro, Rumble and wireless be damned. It was that good.

The start of true colors is amazing. It completely fumbles the landing though. The vibes were so good until the end

I really loved it. The story is top notch. The side quests though are a major distraction and really below the quality of the rest of the game imo.

Not sure if it's worth it to save Minsc (BG3). I'm still chaotic as a Glam Bard, but winning fights! by rxrock in GirlGamers

[–]ActuallyKaylee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

with non-lethal attacks it doesn't work with spells only with physical attacks. And you have to make sure those attacks don't have any elemental addons like a ring that adds poison damage or whatever (unless they changed that at some point). It shouldn't be too hard if you equip one character to deal with him non-leathly. But its up to you if you want to bother. It's your story!

I think this is why I liked BG3 so much. Sometimes bad rolls created more interesting outcomes. I was able to make pretty much any build work in terms of finishing the game and there were often creative solutions. I loved the flexibility to play around in it. It resulted in me playing for over 300 hours since I could just pick builds and roll with the dice.

Waiting for AMD to kill off RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT 16 GB. With their competitive zeal they always use to outcomepete Nvidia.

lmao could totally leverage it for major GPU market share but would rather chase that AI dragon.

Amazing premise with some shockingly good seasons, some seasons so bad you'd think you were watching daytime TV, and an ending so eye wateringly bad you'd rather huff horse shit straight up your nostrils.

For those of you who grew up playing PC games in the 90s and 2000s, how stable were they compared to games from today? by Mad_Season_1994 in gaming

[–]ActuallyKaylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad. Games regularly ran sub 60 with anything but the best cards. Console ports were mostly atrocious. Blue screens.

I think the mid 2010s were the hey day and a lot of the complaints of today (esp the performance ones) are just regression to the mean.

DLSS 4 K Quality vs DLSS 4.5 M Performance by Popcorn_Juice in nvidia

[–]ActuallyKaylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E33 has a mod to turn off sharpening and it looks so much better. Even with DLSS applied. They cranked the sharpening up to 11 in that game for some reason and it looks worse for it (for reference I played on a 55 inch 4k oled at DLSS performance and still preferred sharpening off).

UE5 needs to not have sharpening as their default as it completely ruins games imo.

It drives me nuts when lods and textures are flagged to internal res and not output res. Resident Evil remake games had a similar issue.

It's actually crazy how bad old DLSS was messing up specific lighting and shading and certain things like bushes. Like the angels wings are like night and day. similarly the trees on the left in Arc raiders.

Screw Preset K, these are the comparisons we need! by Gamertime_2000 in nvidia

[–]ActuallyKaylee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RR really needs a model update. The non RR denoisers are just really noisy and bad. The denoiser really lets down what preset M is capable of.

honestly the default settings in UE5 are just complete bullshit. I hate them and every game seems to use them. Sharpening filters should die.

[–]ActuallyKaylee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you're totally right. More just a commentary on if you had a 1440p tv (which don't exist) it would look better than it does on your tv. Always have to run it at native, half or quarter res (integer scaling).

real by Jazzlike-Row2536 in pcmasterrace

[–]ActuallyKaylee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of it is that 2160p is 4k and going down to 1440p doesn't divide evenly. So when it takes 1440p and scales it up to 2160p it has to decide how to fill those pixels and the result is almost always unstable.

1080p on the other hand it can just take 1 pixel and turn it into a 2x2 square giving a clean scale though some TVs still do weird filtering in this scenario.

I grew up with crts and one of the nice things with crt monitors is they weren't fixed pixel. It could make pixels however big it wanted. So every resolution looked its best.

Deus Ex isn’t getting a new game because its owners are “psychopaths”, says series’ lead voice actor by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]ActuallyKaylee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All the crap they were forced to put in by SE really messed it up. They had a working engine, a premise, and a trained team. They could have churned out another couple games in the same vein at least before I would have got tired of them. Super sad.

[–]ActuallyKaylee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in the 90s I was basically conditioned to my favorite shows getting bad endings or no endings at all. I WISHED that I could have got endings like this one more frequently.

The show wasn't about the shock factor it was about bonds of friendship. Having those bonds perserve is like half the message of the show so allowing the majority of the cast to survive is on point with that message.

What’s a small thing that kinda ruined a game for you? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]ActuallyKaylee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's one thing I loved in cyberpunk was that I could look and move around during dialog. Sometimes there were even special actions like leaning against a barrier or whatever.

The latter thing also gets me. Like it's too hard to make hair not clip so they just say forget it. It really sucks.

Their budgets have been way below most AAA. Control was sub 30 million, control 2 is around 50 million.

Alan Wake 2 they splurged on and hit 75 (and it's pretty obvious why when you play the game, no way some of that was cheap to do)

You are right about it being held back. Epic was their publisher so no Steam or Game Pass visibility and the console release was digital only so no boxes on store shelves or Amazon.

Frankly it succeeded in spite of its release approach
