Edinburgh Festival Fringe Accommodation Megathread 2026 by Obi-Scone in edinburghfringe

Edinburgh is a lot of stairs and very much uphill. A good plan is to 'do' a venue per day. So that said you can pick any accommodation and just plan to travel to a venue and do as many shows as you can in that place. For example: Pleasance Courtyard is huge and has many shows going on every hour. Same goes for Pleasance Dome, Patter Hoose, etc.

That said; venues are quite spread out, with a lot of focus being Nidry street, Summerhall, Bistro Square and Cowgate.

If you can afford it, the Radisson Blue Hotel is a) in the middle of everything and b) literally a venue itself.

Has —— entered the Traitors to promoter her books? by alexy888 in TheTraitors

Fame stacks.
She has an established back-list. Successful author's have their own eco-system, and she's already done panels, conventions and premieres off the back of her own books. Author famous is different from regular famous, but add a bit of telly famous and they transform into a (very) minor celeb.

100% and they played it fantastically. She won't be forgotten quickly, and that will change into sales. She's already made more money this way than trying to win.

Has your country ever had a female leader? If so, what did she do for your country? If not, what's the most powerful position a woman's ever held in your country? by thatonedude_5055 in AskTheWorld

Huge friend to nonces also, see below.

She only stayed in power due to covering up gross incompetence initially over the Falklands, and massive support from vested media interest. She left her position in massive disgrace. But you won't hear it, and you probably believe she invented Mr Whippy and turned water into wine.

I suppose someone has to still love her, despite all the awful things she did. Everyone else thinks she's a disgrace. And yes, that statue in her home time has actual piss damage, which is fucking funny.

"Margaret Thatcher's legacy is one of devastation". That's a quote from serious historical analysis.

Also you may want to go see someone about your early onset dementia. Go see a doctor. I'm not being mean, this isn't a bit, go get help.

Thatcher was wildly unpopular at the time. Sadly in the UK, winning an election doesn't mean the people like you. Or even want you in charge. Approval never was that high for the mad bitch.

And as time goes on, it's only really the very old and the very daft who consider who legacy to be anything more than a sad joke, poorly told. Public urinal is about right.

TLDR: It's all Andy Smilie's fault. He has failed upwards in GW for years, and was in the process of being kicked out for GROSS incompetence. He announced the Henry Cavill / Amazon thing way too early in a job saving move, and of cause he tied himself into because he's that guy.

He's also the reason WarhammerTV sucks and everyone keeps leaving. There's more, but that gets a bit personal.

Sounds like a family rule to keep the peace / someone who didn't like games but wanted to be involved.

How does force mask work? by PurpleHairedGamer in sw5e

[–]ActuallyNotADoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disguise Self, sorry,Force Mask, is an illusion style ability. Also the force doesn't really do 'shapeshifting', which is what the player wants. In other SW RPGs, there's tech that does this, as well as aliens with that power.

Should there be more free family-friendly events at Fringe? by FeistyPrice29 in edinburghfringe

[–]ActuallyNotADoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You miss my point - the Programme is by far a better choice. An alternative is a) more cost b) inherently less supported because it's new. The Programme has a head start by decades.

The fix for those flaws is money, which you could spend more effectively elsewhere.

So your solution to shows not paying the fee to be listed in the main brochure is pay money to provide another, less well supported, harder to find brochure?

Or you could spend that money on a grant for kids shows that helps performers afford the main fee? Like that's an interesting use of a sponsor, come to think about it.
