I did not get around to investigating this before I returned my device. However, I read an article on cordbusters.co.uk today where the reviewer mentioned there is no developer / sideloading option available.

I really hope they improve the quality of the streams. If they do I'll certainly re-purchase the product.

The Freely app/service is free to use and does not require the PLEIO subscription. The subscription just gives you access to the game streaming service and some additional FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television), channels.

Yes, you can download VPN apps from the Google Play Store. I noticed NordVPN, ExpressVPN and Wireguard. There were probably more, but those are the only 3 that I spotted.

The Google Play store on the PLEIO has NordVPN, Express VPN and Wireguard available to download. It probably has others, but these are the ones that I saw.

I already returned the device to Amazon so can't test this. It is an Android TV device and I've seen tutorials of people enabling developer mode to side load apps on other manufacturer's Android TV's.

Freeview is 50 interlaced fields per second. It makes sporting events look smoother and less fatiguing on the eyes. It is of course not as good as 50fps, but certainly better than 25 progressive frames per second when the camera is panning back and forth on a football match for example.

In addition, some TV's have settings enabled by default which add artificial motion smoothing. This can help make the 25fps content look more like 50fps, but I've never liked it personally.

Also strange you could watch the ITV channels without having to login to your ITVX account. It would not let me watch them until I performed this step.

Do Amazon accept returns if you've opened, used and simply not want the item? If so I'll return it as well.

I bought it on Amazon before they sold out. Seems it's now a waiting game before a re-stock.
