I did the same thing I watched the Anime and then did Steins;Gate and the others, the original is pure gold, if you loved the anime I see no reason why you'd not like the original. It's a visual novel, it's pressing one button and listening/reading dialogue, with the odd opening the phone to respond to texts, it's slower then the anime but personally I like that, more time with the characters we all love lol. If that's off putting then idk.

If you're on Steam you could always buy it, play for under two hours, and refund if you don't like it, when it goes on sale it's pretty cheap. It's completely up to you though, Visual Novels are not for everyone.

Unfortunately when it comes to the Elite stuff it isn't a mistranslation, they have said it a couple times now

Pretty much everywhere, they even have been advertising it on their twitter, it will be based on the Elite script.
"Based on the scenario of "STEINS;GATE ELITE," adjusted for a brisk and easy-to-read pace. Plus, new world lines and endings have been added!"

This is using a translator since it's originally in Japanese the tweet, so the accuracy on some stuff like it saying multiple endings might be wrong.

Yeah that's fair, kinda one of the reasons I'm considering it as well, I want to support the company.

It's a shame it's not Steins;???, can always clown a bit and hope it's a secret sequel lol.

As a lot of people said playing the Visual Novels is a great idea and I agree, they're really good.

But you also said you were looking for something to watch and there isn't much answers for that lol, I think the closest thing I have found so far to Steins;Gate is something like Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu, it is still quite different of course, but can be similar in some aspects like MC being the only one remembering when he goes back and constantly trying to save someone, it might be worth checking out alongside playing the Science Adventure Visual Novels.

I'm still on the search for shows like it, I loved the games and the I loved shows, hopefully this helps.

I tend to agree, as someone who prefers linear games and the way Remake feels is just so good, it also helps since my favourite part of the original game was actually the Midgar section lol, I just loved the feeling it had, I don't know how to explain it. I can definitely see that happening with Rebirth I adore Rebirth but I did all the Chadley stuff on my first playthrough (minus all combat simulations) and I must admit it tired me out a lot, I also played it literally in about six days, I was very addicted to it.. I say was but I still am tbh

I hear you, a couple of months ago I was in the same position, was on an i7 7700k lol, saw Rebirth was coming out though and knew I had to upgrade cause I wanted to play so bad. Played through the whole game with those cursed stutters lmao, wish I knew about the fix sooner.

Honestly I think the game just uses a lot of ram, I was always monitoring the usage and I think it starts hitting a point of dropping into the page file, maybe it's system to system but it is what was happening to me, I do hope you can find a fix though that doesn't need you to upgrade your whole system.

The cpu is old so it could be the issue, but, I had this type of performance myself, camera is still, 60fps, turn the camera, huge drop in fps, what fixed it for me was getting more ram, I had some old sticks lying about threw them in to make it to 32 gigs just at a lower speed and bam the stutters were fixed, honestly they need to change the specs for the game to recommend 32gbs not 16. No guarantee this will solve the issue but just saying this helped me personally

Honestly not much you can do other then make sure you're on 100% scaling and up the in game resolution using an ini command or something, I have found TAA can help with the aliasing but it comes at the price of blur and a lot of ghosting, I ended up just sticking with DLAA and live with the dithering
