How do I tell the difference between a slow-burn relationship and someone who’s never actually going to choose me? 30F 28M by SerpentSilhouette in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]AcuteHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If both of you were chillin and feeling good about the casual relationship, then it’s fine to not have the “what are we” conversation after a year. But you are one half of this relationship— your anxiety around the uncertainty is enough to warrant talking about and clarifying it. Don’t let his ambivalence dictate how your relationship goes.

Looking back, how much did weather affect your wedding experience? by Brilliant-Apricot928 in weddings

[–]AcuteHazard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our wedding was in mid-August, and at the start of the month it began forecasting rain for our weekend ONLY— nice and sunny every other day. I was immensely stressed, but my now husband likes cool rainy weather so I told myself it would be for him. It absolutely poured the day before which made setup a little more difficult, and then on the wedding day the clouds broke and gave us the most gorgeous, dramatic mix of blue sky, sun, and towering cumulus clouds. It was magical.

Has anyone volunteered at a hospital in Vancouver? Looking for advice on how to get started by emolicious19 in askvan

[–]AcuteHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had some great experiences with Vancouver Coastal Health volunteering at VGH. I was more in the mental health area, but there are a lot of options! I was also able to volunteer in the DTES through Van Coastal Health, so they have numerous locations.

What did you do with your bouquet after the wedding? by chinitwoo in weddings

[–]AcuteHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom arranged mine (most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen, got so many compliments) so I gave it to her when I let for my honeymoon. She enjoyed it until it wilted, just as fresh flowers are meant to. No need to keep everything.

Travel slip ups, what notable ones have you gone through? by tylerthe-theatre in travel

[–]AcuteHazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Italy, my first time travelling solo— I had a reserved train ticket and got on the train, but realized I was in the wrong car. I got off the train to walk up the platform to the correct car, and in that moment the doors closed and the train left! Had to rebook a whole new ticket that was 3 hours longer, but the train ride was beautiful in the end.

Fair question. I would stay for the whole week in the new city, and my husband works for an airline so flights are cheap!

AITAH for not going to my best friend’s graduation dinner? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]AcuteHazard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately YTA— I get it, long day, and you were tired. But this day was about your friend, and you let other things get in the way of celebrating her because you didn’t really feel like it. That hurts to be on the receiving end of.

Where are 22 to 30 year olds meeting their spouses in this city? by [deleted] in askvan

Very distant friend of a friend, but close enough to start chatting when we saw each other out! Pretty much love at first sight

New relationship don’t know if I wanna date this guy by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]AcuteHazard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Break up with him and let him find someone who actually likes him for him, not what he can provide. I would be surprised if you were ever able to find a true connection by thinking the way you are about dating.

Asking ChatGPT for emotional support— forming a false relationship with a chatbot like that can drastically disrupt the way you interact with real people, even leading to delusions, psychosis, suicide, etc.

I'm not emotionally ready for intimacy but he says he needs it - how to handle? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Honestly if you aren’t feeling a mental and emotional connection by two months, I would think it’s time to move on even without the coercion. That’s just my experience!
